Yes guys, didn't know what to do this weekend...
Since a long time I didn't like that ugly grey Eheim 1250 in my beautifull Lian Li PC-70...
    So here's the result:
Ligthly sanded, degreased, one layer of primer for synthetics, and three layers of silver paint...

Idem, but prefilter in blue metallic paint:

Not bad, although I say it myself:

Outside in the sun, with the 90° PVC turns treated the same way:

Inside again on the kitchen table (you can't imagine what I can do on the kitchen table...:D )

    Couldn't resist it again... :naughty:

    CD :)

In the works my good friend, in the proces of redesiging the outsides of the eheim. I take it you'll want it in the aluminum flavour :). Try and get a protype done during easter :D

    Nice work.

Just wondering what fittings you have on it there?

    They are home-made...
The outlet fitting is a 16mm ID PVC turn glued to the original Eheim outlet adapter and a 3/8" brass to 15mm copper adapter hardsoldered to some 15mm copper tube on the other side.
The inlet fitting is a 20mm ID PVC turn again glued to the original Eheim outlet adapter and an 18mm copper part on the other side to adapt it to my 3-tap fill & bleed system.

    CD :)

Edit: wrote two times outlet... :sigh:

Very nice job sir, you have probably just started another cool trend :)
What do you mean by de-greasing the pump? I know the surface feels "waxey" to touch, but what did you soak it in alcohol or something?

    Thanks... :naughty:
After sanding, just clean the surface to paint with methanol to remove any presence of "finger" grease before applying the primer and assuring a good fixation.

Both outlet?, the outlet barb on the top of the pump, how did you managed to fit the elbow on with the barb? :sigh:,

I'm trying to do something similar to this :dremel:, trying to make the outlet into a 90 degree elbow so that I can have both barbs on the pump facing horizontally :blah:

Sorry, just edited my post, the second (20mm) is the inlet of course...

    What do you mean exactly?
To be sure that the copper tube on the outlet points in the correct direction after screwing the elbow to the pump, I did some tests and marked the position before glueing the elbow to the original Eheim outlet part.
    Does this sounds clear?

    CD :)

Sorry for not making myself clear :waah:,

    What I meant was,

How did you managed to glue the elbow on?, did you cut off the pump's outlet barb :worried:, and then glued on the elbow?

What I really want is a outlet barb that faces horizontally, e.g, like this barb below,

But this barb kills flowrates :sigh:, so I would like something similar to yours , or is there anything out there, similar to the blue barb, but doesn't restrict as much flowrates? :)

Yes, I cut off the barb section of the original Eheim in- and outlet.
My first 16mm outlet elbow didn't have a thread so I had to glue the Eheim outlet. The ones I found now have a 3/8" thread on one side (same as the Eheim outlet thread).
Those 16 and 20mm ID PVC parts are available (in Belgium anyway) in specialized aquariumshops and are used in big reef fishtank installations.

As I hate teflon tape, I use this great thread sealant from Loctite:

The original Eheim inlet has a 1/2" thread on the pump side but a 3/4" on the other side.
I had to file the 3/4" threads to be able to glue it to the 20mm elbow.
The outlet is an earlier version ending in 12mm OD copper, which I abandoned.

    CD :)

Thanks for the help , is it possible to screw a 1/2" barb onto the 20mm elbow? from your description it sounds like it doesn't have threads inside in the elbow? :sigh: :worried: (Sorry for being off topic! :waah:)

I can obtain those 20mm elbows with an 1/2" thread on one side, but not 3/4...
