Would I be able to use a Corsair H50 with this case?

i'd expect very good results if you put the H50 as exhaust top fan. since the air penetrator fans at the bottom will blow directly at the H50, providing amp cool air.

I was put off using a H50 in this case as the radiator is going to be blocking some of the only exhaust vent. Any info on whether that would affect airflow would be welcome this was just a personal concern.

Too small for my fingers installing parts in that case hence I got the HAF "X". But in saying I like the looks of this case

I wonder why the result is so diferent compared to the RV02? They are near identical in construction. Are the new fans really that good? Or maybe the old test rig was very bent out of shape by the orientation?

Either way I love the FT02, and the red goes well with red'n'black MB's of late.

I wonder what the RV03 will bring to the table now!

lol no he is right and you are right, the fans are at the bottom of the case yes but the feet that raise the case from floor levels allow the intake of air, so if you put this case on carpet the carpet would develop the open vent areas making it harder to intake more air thus a flat surface. So yes in the end you are both right.

THANK YOU!!! - all of you who 'didnt' see the fans at the BOTTOM of the case need to book a trip to your nearest specsavers.

    ----

and replying to your comment hourb4dawn - depending on the fluffyness of your carpet - loading up a pc with 2 5850/5870s and 4 hard drives & 850w-1k PSU can be fairly heavy (or at least it is for my Antec 902 but of course thats partially down to my case being made of metal instead of aluminium) your pc will sink into the carpet & thus obstructing the bottom of the case where there are 3 intake fans.... not to mention the amount of dust its gonna suck up - you wont need to get your mother in to hoover your room

Lockon Stratos: I think you have the wrong end of the stick.

This photo shows the flat aluminium bottom of the case with a large gap above it. Any carpet is going to be flattened underneath this bottom plate and will not obstruct the intakes.

Whilst I agree that it will "suck up" more dust on the floor than if mounted on a desk, the same is true of any case on the floor, even if the intakes are higher up and in the front of the case. This next photo clearly shows the dust filters beneath the fans.

Personally it is the depth of the case that prevents me buying one, at 616mm deep it would simply dominate my desk (my preferred location for my PC's). My desk itself is only 750mm deep!

@Fingers66 yes the carpet under it would be flat BUT not the carpet next to the plate that sticks up around that plate which will block some of the intake... either way carpet no matter how planned out having a computer near by is generally a bad idea to begin with.

I have the standard FT02, (without the Air Penetrator fans) I would be interested if the new fans made any sort of difference, as all the air will be chanelled upwards by the case anyway I'm not sure if the 'directed' air flow is much of an advantage. Unless you can run them slower/quiter for the same cooling...

Lol, how deep is your shag (pile)...:naughty:

I understand what you mean and yes, any intakes near the carpet are at risk - irrespective of the case.

I had the RV02 (didnt care for the temps, not enough exhaust) and the filters on those 180 even on top of a desk would get plugged up pretty quickly and thus on a carpet would be even quicker. All Im saying is the filters do the job but if you have it on the carpet you will be cleaning them often.

Interesting that you say "not enough exhaust". This is the thing I was wondering about as when I have done stress testing on my PC (Antec 300 case), I have found that more exhaust had a bigger impact (in reducing temps) than more intake.

Whilst more intake than exhaust results in positive air pressure, removing hot spots and *maybe* helping keep dust out, it would increase the temperature inside the case if you couldn't exhaust it all quick enough.

    It is all about airflow.

PS how would one fit an SSD into this, or would it be better to wait for an FT-03?
