Bill said "21 pound slab of 1.5" thick 6061 aluminum arrived". Now we have enough shavings to start our own recycling center. Has to be a modder thing:clap: Was going to say guy thing but I keep forgetting about Christine.
Just sweet Bill. The poor MicroFly frame all done up in blue is in for a real surprise!

lol ^ :hehe: at recycling. Hopefully the bezel is done this weekend so I can go back to concetrating on other things.

This is mnpctech's new "Turbo" fan grill I had anodized blue, just to see get a feel for costs, anodizing is more expensive than I expected. It's very likely not to be offered because I would need a large demand from resellers. In any case, it's the same design as the intakes on the milled bezel. I was thinking I'd used it as an additional exhaust fan grill in the left side panel window in the Microfly.

Bill, are you going to mill down the entire backside until you get a few thousandths past the fan grill cut-outs? If so, that's gonna eat up a few end mill bits :hehe: I guess it's just barely too thin to risk knocking it down with a band saw and then milling? Just a thought, but I'm not sure how thick you're wanting the end product to be.

Anyhoo...Amazing work thus far, you can color me impressed yet again.

Thanks everybody, glad you like the grill.. It did take a lot of scrap pieces to find the right bit for the 1/8" center design MrWizard :hehe: the fram is 3/16" thick

Red / blue anodize is prone to scratching if rubbed against a hard surface, So if they were to be sold, I'd have to clear coat them. I'm going to clear this Blue grill one this evening.

Heres some of the other cnc machined fan grill designs I'll be producing..

Please note, 2 designs in the lower right corner didn't make the final cut. (restrictive airflow)

You know, I actually debated about that, but instead I'd like to anodize it Blue like the fan grill I posted.

After it's anodize, we're going to engrave Homer eating his favorite thing, a sprinkled donut :D

Homer will appear as a silver outline design after it's engraved.

Nice choice on the engraving post-powdercoat. Should give it a really clean look.

And MAN...you guys have been busy hogging away material on that mill lol. Nice designs, I really like them.

Thanks for the feedback gang. It fuels me to keep raising the bar.

@ Wizard, Thank you, we're going to continue designing and experimenting with the grills as long as we have interest in them.

This photo was taken friday night after applying enamel clear to the anodized blue fan grill. I plan to mount this in the right panel window today
