Yes you can name names so to speak. Best places for LED's that i know of are LSDiodes, U.S. compnay but really cheap and only couple quid for shipping too. Or if u want a big batch of a single colour check out Ebay - there are usually job lots of about 100 - 1000 leds there.

Cheers, I've found a page full of them but it's a bit disconcerting when tehy all use the same pictures for the white leds they're trying to flog. Click here
Are the one's in Stevey's case 3 or 5 mm?

This is an awsome implementation of something that I have been thinking about for a while now. Well done!

When you add temp sensors to the mix, will you be having parameters available for the duty cycle of the fans based on temp (ie, 50% if temp < 40C and 100% if temp > 50C with some linear proportion in between)?

    Suggestions:
Set up a lock setting for the controller and use the knob as a Master Lock type thing to unlock the controller. This would keep prying kids fingers out of the mix.
Also, when the unit is not receiving input from the rotary encoder, have it display temp and fan info like 'TEMP1 42c FAN1 65%' since the rpm readouts from PWM (it is PWM, right?) controllers is kinda wacky.

I will be keeping an eye on this one as I really like this design. The idea of buying a custom made controller is very appealing

Wow. That is impressive, I wish my knowledge of all that stuff was better so I'd understand you when reading that lingo.

I am about to start another mod for myself, using almost what you are doing, black case, tons of white LEDs. I dislike CRTs because they are much like flood lamps, and I like the "spottyness" of LEDs, looks cleaner.

What I am wondering is.. is there a way like to create a button or a set of buttons that will control my LEDs in the case, much like a sprinkler system. I would like for there to be "zones".. like front panel, feet, under cariage lighting, flood case lights, drive lights, molex lights, blow hole lights.. etc, etc. Is there a way that I can have a button or something that can dim each "zone" without effecting the others or have some of them pulse or turn off or cycle on and off.. I think that would look very cool.

Anywho, VERY nice project, I like it very much.

isnt that what this mod is about? he has individual control over about 5 lighting zones I thought but you could probably easily expand it... depends if stevey is releasing the info...

    Thanks all,

Yes, this is something I plan to have as an option on one of the menus.

It shouldn't matter if someone turns all the speeds down to minimum, as I've set a minimum of 45% on the CPU and GFX fans, so they shouldn't be able to overheat.

I also plan on doing something like this, where it will scroll through several screens showing system information. I will be modding some of the fans so that I can get an RPM readout even though it's driven from a PWM controller.

This is basically what I have done here. It should be possible to increase the number of zones to over 20 without any problems.

    :thumb: Cheers Timtim.

Actually I was revising, just having a bit of a break...
Enjoy your revision - especially the analogue electronics stuff :blah:

Thats a real nice looking project mate congrats!

Of course I think we'd all love to see the circuit / PIC code! :thumb:

This is exactly what I want for my control panel. :) (Even though I didn't know it before I saw this post)

Any chance of a PCB/PIC guide or something like that?

    That's very nice! :)

I also love the colour theme too

I could be interested in one of these if they go in production! :dremel:

Hi guys, sorry I don't often check the Project Logs section.

I'm currently in the process of trying to find all my files/find which ones are missing on my pc as windows decided to corrupt the data past 132GB on my HDD after I restarted :sigh:. If I don't have the PCB design on my pc anymore and I cannot recover the files then I'll redesign the PCB over the christmas holidays. I'm a bit too busy at the moment to spend time on this :sigh: Sorry guys.

There's a few improvements I need to make to the software, so as soon as I do these I'll make programmed PICs available to you all :)

coolies... will we be able to get some sort of source code access so we can add our own zones etc and/or if you sell preprogrammed ones?
