I was thinking of going watercoolign and was wondering how much of a difference is there between single and dual fan rads. Been looking at the Black Ice series as there is minimal difference in price which is suprising as i would of thought the dual fan rads would cool alot better? Obviously there would be more noise with two fans but is there sufficient performance improvement to justify it?

I dont know about how much of a performance difference you would get but i'd guess it'd be substantial.

Also i think it to be quieter because i would expect that two fans spinning slowly on a dual fan rad would cool just aswell as a single fan running more quickly.

Can't comment on the BIs but as a rule of thumb, I tend to use a quiet 120 for every two or three major components I cool.

If space dictates I can't use a bigger rad, I may use more powerful fans (if necessary) to compensate for the fact that I'm using less of them.

Yup. As long as they're matched to the rad's inherent airflow resistance.
(Some fans will stall or rumble at low volts through dense fins.)
