Well, I'm not sure if this has been done or not yet for an SK6 - I'm sure you can appreciate I've had very little time to paroose the bit-tech site, let alone any place else, but anyhow - after being at somewhat of a loose end this evening, I came up with this:

So far, in the very little testing I've done with it, I can almost instantly say, after a little adjustment to the input voltage via my reobus, that there's a heap less noise coming from my sk6 that there would be usually with a single ys-tech 60mm fan, for the same cooling performance.

I guess I can say how I did it, for anyone that's interested - just fancied saving myself the trouble for the moment :)

Well, I'd been running my taisol in Kna's gemini configuration, but removed it when testing another HSF.

I got lazy, and the next thing I know, three months have past, and people passing through my room, who cant resist a shiney HSF have messed up the base.

I really cant be botherd removing a pane of secondary glazing to re-lap the thing, so I thought I'd do the only sensable thing, and mod my sk6 to use Kna's gemini configuration.

Turbulance (hence, noise) has always been terrible on sk6's if you ask me, so having two fans covering more of the center seem to do better.

Doesn't the new fan arrangement make fitting more difficult? Looks really cool though (literally) :D

Well, that's what was worried about, having just made it on the spurr of the moment, without any measurements etc... and due to the way the sk6 is constructed, it would be alot harder to get the fans into the same configuration should the base have been rotatred round 90 degrees, due to a groove in the sk6.

Slipping onto my epox 8k7a+, aboard my ATC 201 tray was a might tight, but made it with a few mm to spare :D

Well......after someone in IRC pointing me to this post (he knew I had been getting crap temps with an SK6) I decided to try it out this morning. What can I say but....WOOHOO!!!!! an 8degree drop in cpu temps, and no more noise..if not less!!!! I thought adding another 60mm delta would be suicidal....but it's brilliant!!! Thing is...it has risen my case temps, due to the increased heat dissipation from the HS, but I have just ordered 2 80mm deltas :D so that issue will be addressed. I'm sorry, but I have no digi cam, so I can't take any piccies. But, all I did, was join the 2 fans in the middle with mecanno (yes, u read it right...mecanno...the amount of times I have modded with this stuff...) u now....the little metal strips with 2 holes....one normal, and one elongated. I then used the long fan clips that come with the SK6 to secure it to the HS. I never removed the HS from the mobo, but I did find a capacitor got in the way (1.4 T-Bird in a KT7A-R) I just used a bit of persuasion and it all clipped in nicely!!!

Anyhow....thats my success story, and ta moose for the idea!!! /me orders that man a pint

I really recommend this to anyone....go on...u know u want to!!!!

Excelent - glad I'm not the only one that managed to get some benifit from it :D

I'll forward two thirds of that pint to Kna ;)

I've got a UV reactive YS-Tech on my SK6 from CCM which is 3500 RPM instead of my old 5k RPM on so Imagine two of them on it, would look amazing and cool really well!!!

    Welcome to the boards mate...

  You think 60mm deltas are loud? 80mm delta attached to your case make a lot of noise! :) I wouldn't like to be your ears :p

Thanks for the welcome mate. I know about the noise of the 80's, but will mount them with rubber washers, see what it sounds like I suppose.

I have an intelligent baybus in the pipeline aswell (uC controlled, LCD etc).....electronics is one of my hobbies :) So if I can't stand the noise of em hardwired at 12v, it will kick my backside in gear to hurry up and build the damn thing.

OK......a bit of an update. Installed the 2 80mm Deltas, and the results have been impressive to say the least. Case temp doesn't budge from 22 degrees. and the CPU temp is now 42degrees after a full day of RC5 (similar to SETI...100% load) at 1606Mhz(146x11) @ 1.85v. I've never had it this stable!! Granted, it is noisy...but i have yet to cut out the inbuilt fanguards in the case.....I swear the main bulk of the noise is from here. It has been like this for a few days, and has been rock solid. Next stage is to try 1617....but I ain't that hopeful.

ooh, very sweet results there mate :D

I might give a go of clocking my 1.4 again... its never been stable enough for me to want to keep it running high though..
