I'm just starting to find my way through KT. Your comments are welcome specially with the KT rendering.

Note: I created the HD in SU7 and saved it to SU6 for those who do not have SU7 yet. If the file refuses to open let me know and we well fix it.

can you do "sky lights" with KT, I've never really tried KT?

jezmck, I have the skp. file for the vandal switch saved at home, I can send it to you if you want.

 

Yes! infact I have one during the rendering I just dialed down the light level.

What do you use for rendering?

 

Vray 1.5 for 3ds (and sometimes vray for SU), I'm probably going to try out KT again, i've seen some really nice renders. I tried it a long time ago but got very disapointed on how slow it was. but it was the older version maybe it's better now.

 

It still is slow, very very very slow

Did this in KT on wednesday took 48 hours to do 10% so his the image if 10%, i couldn't be bothered to wait weeks for it

I have around 120 models from the scc backed up on my computer, don't ask me why
but just tell me, I probably have the missing ones.

 

i've been trying out vray and I really like it.

but Im having trouble getting all the settings right along with my materials.

do you have a nice render scene you could upload along with render settings (for fast renders and for high quality renders) and maybe any materials you have.

it's really tough to get this set up right. I've pretty much got my case finished.

i've got the lighting of the scene to be OK but not perfect. I made some rectangle bars that act as LED lights and light up the inside of my case (emissive layer) and it looks cool but maybe I could get it better.

if you could help that'd be great!

have you got alot of materials made as well? I'd like to get the materials (red painted aluminum, CF, clear plexi, red tubing, LEDs) as realistic as possible. i found a site that has tons of materials for vray but thats only for the 3ds version and I have absolutely no clue how to use 3ds max.

I've tried 3ds a few times and cant get it. I think I've almost mastered sketchup. Even without vray I can get pretty good looking photos.

what i really like the best about vray is how you can make lights inside your case and it actually lights it up. its real cool.

 

where did you download vray talladega? and i'd like those presets too dark!
