Right, so I've not been home for the last two days. Before I left I started a rendering process in Kerkythea using MLT, asking my brother to check on my machine then and when.

This is how it looked after 130 phases:

As you can see it could have used a few hundred phases more. When I opened the door five minutes ago it was suspiciously quiet. Smelling trouble I switched on the screen to be greeted by "Please enter Bios password". When I started the machine I was greeted by a heartwarming popup by Microsoft "A security hole has been patched and your computer has been restarted imediately to fix it." (Or something along the lines, my Windows is German.)

I mean W T F?! My brother checked on the coputer at 1am, and it was fine then. Common, you must be kidding me, right? Restarting a machine on 100% on every core and way above 70% RAM usage without a prompt?! :duh:

Gah, I know the render wasn't good, I know I shouldn't be this angry. But... :wallbash::wallbash:

    [/rant]

I'm astonished everytime I see that bike, scooby. Really good work, thank you for bringing it up again! :thumb:

A lot of really good components. In fact I think this collection is the reason there aren't too many good models in the google site. People upload them there instead.

Alright, here's the skp. Don't mind the HDDs, I was still brainstorming where to put them.

This is why you should pull the network cable when running a mission-critical task.
If Windows isn't told there's an update, it shouldn't restart your PC.:thumb:

    Heya Folks,

i've been directed here for some uber guidance in Sketchup...

    WOW! amazing stuff...

i noticed that the SCC is not up... still updating?

i've started working on some SU stuff of my shop but not any computer parts yet...

    love this program...

one thing... i've been importing some models that i found on the web... oh... spaceships and castles and stuff... going ooooh... aaaaah... wooooaaaaa...

but i notice that some files my computer gets tad slow...

i am running C2Duo T9400 with 4GB ram on vista on my dell studio 17 lappy...
    is it normal?

    thanks again!

should be normal. it's a real gpu intensive program and it's sh*t slow when you have a remotely complicated model on integrated graphics.

    Aterius that really sucks....
I noticed the site's still down. Anyone happen to have an mATX board? Any board is fine.

    Hello again...

    quick question...

i was looking at some of the fan designs in SU and was wondering, how does one go about curving the fan blade surface?

Unfortunately, you cannot simply curve a flat surface, but you can 'smooth' the edge between adjacent surfaces.

oh, ok... so it's a bit more complicated thing when drawing fans?

well, sorry if this is the wrong place... started playing around with SU and did a mock up of the cellar of the shop i work in...

is what i got so far...

seems my lines are bit more smudgy than what i see you pros doing...

also, i plan on drawing the ground floor level to this... is there a way to create a separate level that aligns perfectly to the ground level?

i want to be able to view each floors separately and also the walls separately so i can see the inner details.

the walls are so gorgeous with the brick construction details.

grouping em will be the best way?

again, sorry if this is the wrong place to ask...

i know it's not computer component related...

    thanks!

smudgy? maybe look at Styles > Edges

view floors separately: have a look at Layers.

layers don't work so well in SU, try to use a lot of groups, then you can enable view/edit component/ hide rest of model, and you'll only see what's in the group you are working on , makes it alot easier when drawing architectural stuffs

Have made a rough work up of Zotac's passivly cooled 9500gt gpu. It's not quite right for two reasons; couldn't find any images of it without it's heatsink on, so the board is the 1gb version which is fan cooled, and the heatsink's a bit complex to figure out from a couple of photos.

I'm unfortunatly not very good with sketchup, usualy just use it as a steping stone between caad and photoshop, so the file is a 13Mb .rar I'd imagen that someone here would be able to shrink that a bit without loosing anything of import, I however cannot.

p.s. I also stole somebodys backplate... rinaldo, from his... geforce 6800gt. Sorry about that.

    question for you pros...

i'm trying to draw a radiator and i am trying to round the 3 axis corners of the end tank of a radiator...

when i try the follow me tool, it goes nicely except at corners, it gives me a void, blank hole...only at the corners...

how does one go about creating a nice smooth cornered radiator without big gaping hole at the corners of the end tank?

heya,... i think i figured it out...

anywhoo... i have been working on the TFC 480 and i think i'm pretty much done with it for now...

how and where can i load it to share?

btw, i did not go into drawing the fins between the plenums...
hope it's correct to size... i did check here and there... i did have to guess a bit on the radius of the curves along the edges tho...

    here's a pic...

Welcome to the forum kinghong1970, your rad looks great. The link below is where you can submit your work to the SCC (The SketchUp Components Collection).

    http://scc.jezmckean.com/contact

SU is a bit sensitive when it come to unique shapes even more so when your working on a very small scaled model. When I am working on something that small I would group the item and using the "Scale" tool increase it's size by 10 in the "VCB" (Value Control Box) found on the lower right-hand corner of the SU work page.

Once the work on the component is done and to my satisfaction I would select the "Scale" tool again and reduce the model be typing ".1" in the "VCB" which will reduce the model back to it's original work size.

I do this a lot and hope it helps you in future projects.

Now for a little plug for the MNPCTech Case Design Competition that is going on. Voting will end this Sunday and I hope everyone has a chance to vote for your favorite case design.

You can see all the great case design HERE and vote for your favorite by joining the group, you can select up to 3 case.
You can check my case design HERE. So thanks for your vote in advance.:thumb:

Think you could add every window/ventilation drum/door/other cat burglar sized hole into that shop drawing... and the safe??
Oh, and the address would be nice to have as well! ;D

    Nice looking radiator!
