@ tjay@TJ, Thank you my friend. Great work on that gene, are you going to do the Asus Rampage II Extreme too? Keep it up:thumb:

@bocian, Welcome! Good to see more polished artist joining the club. Excellent work bro...we demand more!!!:D

@kinghong, just a suggestion and this goes out to all of you guys....

When posting images of your work and the said item is black or very dark in color it some time hard to see the details of your hard work. May I suggest (at least in the proof stage) that you use a lighter color or select "Monochrome" viewed images so we may all enjoy seeing the details too. TY:thumb:

PS glad to see your on the ball when it comes to accuracy. Very important, keep it up.:D

here's another rad... Swiftech MCR-320 QP

i saw some of the models available of this in the 3D warehouse but i did not quite like the amount of details imo...

couple of things tho... the specs diagram off the swiftech site does not give as much details as you'd find in the feser site...

    the following things are estimated:
    • fan mount holes from the edge of the outermost fan bracket, i basically centered between the end to end
    • fan mount/outer bracket dimensions are also estimated
    • top and bottom end tank depth into the fan mount bracket... i noticed that the bottom end tank is 7mm, but not sure how deep it goes into the brackets before the fin sections
    • distance between the bung center to the top edge of outer (fan) bracket
    • exact size of the hex "nut" in the bung area...
    • exact thickness of the extruded end tanks on both top and bottom...
    • exact width of the extruded end tanks on both top and bottom...

    well, i guess it's a good practice?

as for the curved edges, i followed scooby's tip and scaled it to 400% and did the follow me, then scaled it back to size... worked like a charm!

    thanks scooby! :thumb:

and also, yea, the pic is in monochrome... he he he

if anyone got a MCR-320 available, i'd appreciate some measurements... cus mine's in the computer i gave to my bro... he he he

    Model Thermaltake Silent Tower Completed

Probably my best model, a lot of details, the scale of 1:1, etc.
There is only one problem, size is greater than 10MB and I can not put it in the 3DWarehouse gallery.

@bocian, big file 10mb!!! I was the same way when I first started out, all the details to the "T" then I noticed my file size were over 10mb. I learned a few trick and now have been able to create the same model at a smaller file size.

Keep it up bro, 3DWarehouse is not the only place to upload your work. We have SCC.:thumb:

@kinghong, glad to hear that it worked for you and your welcome. If you run into a wall again just let us know and we will do what we can to help.:thumb:

PS Now that looks a lot better, I can see all the details.:D

@tjay, can't way to see your model. TY:thumb:

@bocian: that model does have a vast amount of detail in it; all those fins could be faked with a simple stripy texture.

Outstanding TJ!!! Looks solid I hope Jez can up load it soon.

BTW I didn't mean for you to rush this project but I'm glad you did, now I can add it to a project I'm working on. Keep them coming:thumb:

@bocian, Jez is right, by doing it that way you can still have the illusion and look of the fins and cut your file size by almost 75%.

    Here is a tip/trick I use...

Using you heatsink as an example; I would create just the edges on all four sides and then capture them in scale to jpeg them open them up in Photoshop and crop them for each side. Now in SU Import them in one by one and add them as a texture to their prospective sides. Because they were created in SU they would still capture the SU drawing style.

I hope that makes sense, give it a try and watch your file size become more smaller and more manageable.

Ok I fixed a few bugs, the main problem were excessive quantities of SU logs and double side textures
now occupies 3MB previously 23 MB

    This is final version

Anyone know of a good way to convert Solidwork 2009 models to Sketchup? I've tried going from Solidworks to Rhino and exporting the model that way, but I always seem to get a ton of unnecessary mesh lines on surfaces...

I'm trying to draw an XBox 360 CPU heatsink, but I'm having a great deal of troube with the heatpipe that runs through the thing. For some reason there are two gaps that run through the curves of the pipe that I can't get rid of, and trying to join it up polygon by polygon just doesn't work, anyone know what it could be?
