What are your opinions on it? I heard they're using the same characters, except they're American. I wish they'd start new characters instead; I feel like American versions of Tony, Sid, Michelle and Cassie won't go over well. Thoughts?
Filth? Seriously, as fascinating as the British version was, I found it fascinating only in terms of seeing what they allowed on it. I just don't think it's good television to begin with. And it's been done to death with 3 (or was it 4) seasons over here. There's just no need for this to go on in America in my opinion. If it's as full of crap as the British version then I despair.
Another teen drama...................... how bout first you bring back good shows like Reaper or Arrested Development
I enjoyed the original UK series with the aforementioned characters in it, but kinda grew out of it by the time they replaced them all with the next batch. I watched the first episode of series 3 but found the characters to be unbearably annoying and even more far-fetched than before.
I was actually mildly entertained by the first and second seasons but I watched the third season because it became so bad it was good. The writing is terrible but unintentionally (I presume) subtly brilliant, especially the new characters.
Never actually watched it, however I feel as if I have the entire bloody thing several times with the amount of adverts it gets on C4/E4.
It's just a bunch of druggee teenagers, that's all it is. Quite boring imo. I wouldn't waste my time on either version.
The new series cast look so boring, Liked series 1 and 2, Series 3 and 4 were OK, and this just looks rubbish.
I watched it tonight whilst jogging on the treadmill. It seemed interesting. The Michelle chick is hot and she dances quite well
Told ya The only reason I watched some of the UK version was because I accidentally saw an episode at a mates house one night and was fascinated by how much drink, drug and ASBO promoting material they allowed on television. And they wonder why we have so many young offenders here...
I was reading an article in the New York Times this morning about some controversy that MTV is already facing with this show. Apparently the 3rd episode may run afoul of child pornography laws. I had never heard of the show until I saw this thread, and then I saw the article this morning so I thought I would read up a bit. What I find interesting is some of the comments posted in response to the article. Quite a few people seem to like the British version of the show because, as one person said, it was "engaging, dramatic, thoughtful, and rather well acted." Yet, most of the Britons here seem to think quite the opposite. I wonder if the American audience liked the British version more because it was British, and not so much because it was actually a good show. In other words, is our appreciation for the British show related to the same desire to cast all villains (and all Romans, good or bad), with a British accent? As far as the New York Times story goes, I think it's a combination of bad production and manufactured controversy. If Jersey Shore is any indication, nothing will draw more viewers than the possibility of seeing oversexed young people.
I know this is a massive bump but I just came across this bit of information by accident today and thought I'd share it; Skins US was dropped after one (dismal) season. All together now: "Awwww".
I also didn’t like it, look at the scenes how they changed the whole pattern, I think English part was much better than American version. Do you think that people going to like it, I have doubt about it.
