I've been waiting for a real pirate game since I came across the ships combat in Assassin Creed the Black Flag and I think I've finally found it. ignoring Sea of Thieves because it looks rather cartoonish. Trailer Pre-alpha GamePlay Where me Bit-Tech pirates at? If theirs enough interest we definitely need a clan
Have you played any of the Age of Pirates or Sea Dogs games? There were a variety of pirate games before Black Flag, not played it myself but yeah, if you want pirate games have a look at Sea Dogs, Pirates of the Caribbean, Age of Pirates: Caribbean Tales and City of Abandoned Ships. They're called Sea Dogs rather than Age of Pirates on GOG: https://www.gog.com/game/sea_dogs_caribbean_tales https://www.gog.com/game/sea_dogs_city_of_abandoned_ships A bit buggy but there were/are various mods that help, piratesahoy.net has plenty of stuff on them and other pirate games.
Sea of thieves is worth a punt if you haven't tried it yet, they were running betas over the last few weekends. It's avaliable on the xbox game pass for about £10 a month. I'm not sure theres enough content to be worth the full RRP though.
Apparently that's "too cartoony", as per first post. No more betas for that anyway, it launches in 2 days! I was interested in S&B, but I absolutely hated the ship combat in AC: Black Flag, it's the whole reason I never bothered to complete the game. As it's no doubt just that copy & pasted, I'll try the betas, but pass on the game. SoT is all the pirating I need! There's Blackwake too on Steam if you're just in it for Pirate PvP.
I prefer the look of the game play from sea of theives tbh. I like the more realistic looking aesthetics of skull and bones but I really dislike the XP pinata and ship health bars of the ships. That and the overcrowded hud ruins S&B for me. Shame really, after watching the excellent Black Sails on Amazon prime video, I'm well and truly into anything piraty at the moment
Ubisoft's long-in-the-works open-world pirate adventure Skull & Bones has been delayed again, seemingly pushing any potential new release date beyond March next year. Unfortunately chaps, it's been delayed.
Ubisoft has rebooted Skull & Bones Info Skull & Bones is reportedly undergoing a full-scale reboot, which is bringing the game closer to a cross between Epic’s Fortnite and Rare’s Sea of Thieves. This is due to various internal reasons, which are responsible for several delays of the title. The wait continues!
Crikey, I had forgotten all about this, seems to have been lost in the depths of Davy Jones locker! Marking it more like fortnight is not very promising thought... :/
I am quite slow off the mark with new releases and STILL need to sort my game storage space out, but if this is in Game Pass at any point, I'll be your larboard wingman (anytime?)!
Doesn't look like it will be coming soon... Skull and Bones delayed again by Ubisoft, now coming “early 2023-24” | PCGamesN
Does "early 2023-24" mean from "sometime between early 2023 and 2024" (so it's potentially a year off), or does it mean "early in the 2023-24 release cycle" (in which case it's not that far off)?
https://www.purexbox.com/news/2023/12/skull-and-bones-will-finally-wash-ashore-in-february-2024 Assuming this releases across platforms, it's time to start warming up and stretching your sword arms.
Ooooohhh!! Me! Me! Just had an email informing have been chosen for the beta testing this weekend. Splendid! Even better - was able to choose to use the SeXbox as the PC needs a new drive installed, so that's good too. And I'm being left to my own devices (quite literally) for two out of three days so this is potentially the super duper downtime I've been needing for a while...anyone else had similar comms?
