Me thinks someones got his friends to bid it up for him to encourage a bidding war (private bids!!!!!!!!!!).

I hope he doesn't sell it because its ridiculous and if he does I'm gonna head hunt him to help with my scheme to sell sand to the Arabs.

    What????

Just jumped onto this thread.....36 mins to go and it's at £1,750!!

Shrill or bogus bidding, must be.

For £1750, i could put together a system that would spank that second hand rig into oblivion!

    Pffft....eBay!

To be fair to the guy, £1750 must seem like a ridiculous bargain, considering he bought the lot for just shy of £5000 only a year or so ago :duh:

for £600 you can build an i7 rig that will go toe to toe with skulltrail, not quite equal but it will challenge - buy an i7 rig

2 512MB 8800GTS cards (ie 9800GTX cards, not the GTX+ or the GTS250), when overclocked, can play Crysis with 4xAA, on a chip that's not designed to work as efficiently with games (due to fetcher optimisations, etc)? Maybe at netbook resolution...

You could build a water-cooled, Quad-SLI GTX295, i7 rig for that sort of money. And add in giant monitors, SSDs, Blu-Ray... blah, blah, blah...

guys i think you are forgetting all the perhiberals you are getting with the pc so you can't get £600 gaming rig and say it is equal, you have to include the monitor speakers moyuse and keyboard, which in the end will be about £1000

No I'm not. I could build a rig that would be clearly superior to that in every single respect for the same money.. or less... seeing as it's at 1750 and still not met a reserve!! LOL

    I remembered.

Besides, what you're saying is we should add £400 to the price of any machine we spec to beat the eBay one, and "include peripherals" (which I already did)?

    Reserve of £2600 - £400 = £2200.

Find me a machine costing £2200 that's WORSE than that one's tower, and I'll find you the stupidest PC builder in the world.

Actually, the Q9550's nice and energy-efficient. Overclocks well too. Assuming the motherboard isn't made of wood, the memory isn't cardboard, and the PSU has more than 100W of grunt.

But yes, get the right stepping, and overclock it under water, and it'll be fine to hold its own with the eBay rig. The 9600GT's about right for the pair of 8800GTS cards. ;)

Although PC World are ONE of the stupidest PC builders in the world.

I have a pic of Antony Leather with a heart round, that one of the mods set as my avatar, and an actual quote he sent me in PM as my sig, after I bought a load of games off him and my missus said "These smell like baby oil".

How much more do I need to do before people realise I'm always joking? ;)
