I quite often find when I turn on my Sky box it goes straight to the AVAGO channel! I don't see how it's a coincidence, has anyone else noticed the same thing?

after a while mine will just switch itself to E4, which is annoying as i cant stand the sight of jade. some of the boxes have known faults i think. would sky replace them?

Mine only started doing it when the new channel was launched, and it seems strange that it goes to a channel solely devoted to making money! I smell a rat.....

Yes! thats exactly what happens to mine, its extremely annoying when I'm watching M*A*S*H and it decides to turn over to that drivel :miffed:

i wonder how much E4 payed for this extremely "usefull" feature :eyebrow:

Sounds like the TiVos magically recording Dossa & Jim or whatever the crud it was called. ... and you couldn't even delete the programme after it was saved for a time.

im just guessing but panasonic boxes?

the one in our front room keeps junping from channel to channel when we flick though so it could instead of going from Q to kerrang go from Q to the sky demonstration or another channel & sometimes it locks up for no reason (i wish it had a reset button on the front under a flap like the nokia ITV digital box in my room does as our tv is a a very very heavy widescreen & you have to lift it to move it forward to switch the power off on the sky box)

i know hte reason for this

sky have borked the firmware in the boxes & it only really affects panasonic boxes as they use a differnt type of decoding chip to the other manufacturers to give a better picture, i read this on a forum page called digital spy (i think that is what it was but i cant really remember) & i dont think sky will get round to sorting it soon as sky + is there new baby

/me prefers tivo anyway (much easier to add more hd space to it than a sky+ box)

That happens randomly too, always has happened with my Grundig box, and its two Amstrad successors (first 2 died :sigh:). This is an entirely different issue, it always switches to the same channel, and only when the box is first switched on after a period of inactivity.

Damn cheap sky should provide better STBs, they are charging enough ****ing money!

Try to remember that Sky dont make the boxes they just supply them to you free of charge , in fact you get around £300 worth of equiptment for free.
On average thats a years subscription before they recoup the cost.

right my channel list for the channels i get in my room (downstairs we have everything apart from the sport & the dirty channels)

on my FTA terrestrial box i get
    bbc1
    bbc2
    itv
    itv2
    channel 4
    channel 5
    bbc choice
    bbc 4
    bbc news 24
    cbbc
    cbeebies
(more will come soon when the final deals are sorted for sky & itv to take over FTA terrestrail)

on my anologue sattelite setup (pointed @ the astra cluster of sattelites i get)
(these are music channels & nearly all the music is in english)
    mtv2 pop
    viva plus
anohter music channel that i dont know the name of
    mtv germany
    (sports)
eurosport europe so i get different sporting events to the ones eurosport UK transmits (& the sports i get are better as well as i sometimes get tractor pulling)
    (news)
    bloomberg
    cnn
    cnbc
    (general entertainment)
tango tv, they are german & french as far as i can tell but everything is english, i get the simpsons :D
    (radio)
3 radiostations again the songs are english

& this wierd channel called BTV that has music & politcal stuff on it (the political stuff is german so i cant understand it, music videos, informatials, soft core pornography:worried: & this all night rave party every night)

i also get a heck of a lot more channels but as there all in german completely there all useless to me (on the german versoin of granada plus there still playng you rang m'i lord with one guy doung all the voiceovers for every character, anyone else rememger that show?)

not bad as its all free, the FTA terrestral box was £20 of a friend of my dad's & the sattelite system as free as i pulled the decoder ot of a closet & the dish & working LNB from the tip & all the sattelite cable was in the garage, must have @ least 300m, dunno where it came from but i gots it :D

/me is good with computers, phones and electronics

I never really understood the sky/sat thing. I used to have satellile internet connection ... well my dad did and now hes gone and so's that old gear...

    If I had a dish pointed at the astra cluster i'd pick up channels ;

    1. for free ?
    2. legally for free ?

the channels i listed under my anologe decoder are for free & legally as well

plus the osbournes is 2 months ahead on german mtv so im 2 months ahead of the uk :D

not sure about digital but like i said all of them are though anologue & have a crystal clear pcture, heck you could even point your dish @ other clusters to get differnt channels (there are gudes that walk you though it, as in select this channel on astra, change the polarity move your dish 2 inches then tilt up bla bla bla)

/me knows someone who has a big lawn mounted analoge dish that movea automatically & he can move it off hsi remote, if he selects a chanel on a differnte cluster than the dish is pointed @ it moves automatically, you can pick up the anologue decoders cheaply off e-bay, the dish you can pull off a tip & if the lnb does not work you can get them from maplins, i can even write down how i set my system up & how i found astra

(once you have found astra its easy to find the other clusters)

    /me needs a life
