See I bought a horse just before I rode out to the first dragon, but then the horse sodded off in the fight and I lost it and I couldn't be bothered again. I couldn't figure out a way to call the horse, so I quit.

I think the exploring and walking between locations is one of the major parts of the game - makes you realise just how much has been put in this game. The coolest stuff I have experienced has been found randomly.

there's a horse mod for calling horses, and you can select which horse to be invincible (eg, Shadowmere only or all horses)
there's also a mod that connects all houses together like a central hub, so it saves time like when you want to get to a location quickly (in terms of ingame time) or use it as central repository for loots.

    there's a always mod for that :D

so, use console command to discover all locations, install those two mods, then you'd be set for ultimate action RPG (taking out the adventure part)

Bah, mods put me off. If the game doesn't have those kinds of options, I don't tend to carry on. :) Thanks though wyx, always nice to know it's there.

I was reluctant to try the mods at first. I've never been really big on them, as for some reason it felt like cheating a little (silly, I know)

Recently however, I've started using a few and realising how much fun they can be.

I also ventured back to the mages guild last night. I completed what I thought were all the quests there and never really bothered going back. I was nearby, so thought what the hell. By the time I left again, I had gained three new missions.

The game continues to surprise me.

Would anyone mind putting together a brief list of graphical mods to make the game even prettier?

If you have a mod installed, will it still auto update ok?

Any essentials that I should have mod wise? Ive still got many hours to put into this game

So I finished the Thieves' Guild quest line and it was OK, but I CBA to do all those small quests to restore the name of the Thieves' Guild or whatever that is. About to start the companion's quest line now, is it worth seeing it through? Or should I just do the Dark Brotherhood one instead, I remember that quest line being quite enjoyable in Oblivion.

Also, this video had me in tears :hehe:

    Dark Brotherhood quest is fantastic.

Companion quest line is pretty boring IMHO.

    i think:
Dark Brotherhood > Main quest > Thieves guild > Mage's university > Companions.

Pretty much agree, but for me swap Theives guild with Mage's College.

The Companions quest can be pretty dull.

I have started a new character, only played an hour or so with cut scenes. Can't wait to get my teeth into the main storyline and side quests. last time I played I had just completed StormCloaks which was ok yet repeatative.

Go to this StormCloak bases, get instructions and then attack this location etc etc

Yeah, the civil war quests can be incredibly dull.

You do all the quests for a particular camp, think you've made a difference and then BAM "report to this next encampment".......for the same thing.

I am ignoring them for the moment, just did a random Daedric quest. Bad move now I have Afflicted attacking me and Dwarf Spiders...I left not long after entering. Too hard for me at low level.

Found myself making new characters, getting them to high levels of power and getting bored.

I think my next guy will be an assassin as I haven't done the dark brotherhood quests. Gonna play on master and implement some limitations on myself so I don't break the game.
