Been looking everywhere for a list of cards that are SLI compatible with my 470GTX, as I want to add a 3rd monitor to the setup but a max of 2 are supported on single card.

I can't find a 470GTX from any reputable sellers here in the US, and in my searching haven't read anything about other 400-series cards being usable for SLI or not. my options for 400 series cards are a 480 GTX or a 460.

full parts disclosure, system built about 2 years ago:
    mainboard: ASUS P6X58D-E
    CPU: Core i7 930
RAM: 6gb Corsair dominator DDR3 triple channel
    PSU: Corsair HX550
    existing GPU: eVGA 470GTX

Friend told me this was the place that would have an answer, hopefully he was right. cheers!

sli cards are only compatible with only there own make

    aka 470 with 470

    460 with 460

    480 with 480

    ect

you cant crossfire different cards like you can with amd

Yes, only same card is SLI capable, but that's not even what you are looking for since SLI mode would disable any displays you had attached to the 2nd card anyway. For multi monitor it dosen't really matter as long as you stick with some nvidia card so you won't have driver issue. I would just grab something basic like a GT210 for $25 if all you need is another display for non-gaming tasks.

Thanks for the responses, picked up a used 430 from a friend who was upgrading to drive the third one, you would think someone somewhere would have written a multi-display FAQ by now with all the different technologies and options.

    cheers! :D
