What would you recommend as a good performing SLI motherboard. i currently have a Gigabyte K8NS Ultra-939 AGP 8X but i am looking to upgrade to a Motherboard with a PCI-E system as it is the way to go now. I would welcome any recommendations to help me decide.
budget? features required? Abit KN8 SLI is a good board at a very reasonable price & a decent overclocker. If you have the budget the AN8 32X is a great board.
if you searched, or even looked further down in the forum, you would've foind this: http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=113788
ASUS A8N-SLI Premium - Socket 939 AMD - Chipset NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX this board seems to be fine but there is one probelm, and that is in a review i saw, a guy said 'Needs modern powersupply(24 pin)'. now how modern are we talking and is the 24 pin connecter standard for PSU's in this day and age?
Well, what PSU do you have? Most higher-wattage models manufactured in the last two years will come with 24-pin ATX as standard. Note that it's not totally necessary to have a 24-pin supply, but it's recommended.
If you actually intend to use the Sli mobo with SLi then id reccomend a newer and better PSU, if your on a budget the Hiper 580w Modular offers up to 600w or so and is rock solid stable, also quiet 18db roughly
Yes - the ThermalTake will be fine for single-card use (should also be 24-pin), but they're not supplies that I'd trust with a dual-card configuration. If you plan to run SLI, have a look at the Seasonic 500/600W units or perhaps the Tagan EasyCon 580W.
