Everywhere I've looked I've always seen/been told that SLI'd cards will share the same clockspeeds.

    When overclocking, it's true.

Bash them both up to 750 (600 stock) and both cards overclock just fine.

Idle and the drop to 400.

    Now.
This is the odd bit, the primary card goes to a -sub idle clock of 300.
Then second card stays at 400.

    Don't get me wrong.
They work great, and should give the 5870 a run for it's money.

But it just seems odd that all the rest of the time they clock in unison.
the the master card drops to a -sub idle on it's own.

    Anyone else get this?

    Full specs....
I7 920 (stock at the mo)
    XFX X58
    3x 2GB OCZ 1600 Obsidian
NorthQ giant Connector 850 watt PSU

    Cards are.
    XFX GTX280 oc (640)
    Leadtek GTX280 (600)

the XFX is in the primary slot (top one), but the the leadtek is listed 1st in GPUz and seems to primary.....

anyway. just looking for similar stuff, or why it'd be odd.

    Thanks

The bus interface seems different on your leadtek its 8 on the xfx its 16 ...perhaps there lies your mystery?

I notice that too, perhaps change your 2nd(or first, Leadtek one) GPU to the other GPU slot.

After a bit of research it looks like XFX have decided that if you want to SLI your cards you want to use the very top slot and the very bottom slot.

If you use the 1st and second PCIE 16x slots it assumes that you want it to be 16 and 8.

the rather f'ing useles quick install guide made no mention of the fact.

As the whole system is watercooled, it's not just a case of popping it out and moving it.

I might be able to do a quick swap on the sli-connector.

    Dam muppets.

    :duh:

    _+_+ done.
Just have to have really swift hands.... :D:naughty:
Just got to leaktest it (as it's bottom mounted PSU with 2 watercooled gpus. I'm lazy and just put the PSU on top of the case)

    Anyway.

the overclocks are working nicely, I've got the medusa demo running in the background, looping for a while.
    30 FPS ish Core @ 760, RAM @ 1620, Shaders @1200.

Are there any really good programms for stressing a GPU setup in SLi.
Furmark only does a single GPU.
Besides looping medusa anything else worth a go?

    BTW.
my rig looks classy, I might leave it like this ><
