I am building a small computer for lan/svcd/divx playing and such. I see many are using the slimline dvd drives from laptops in their small computers. Where can i find the pinouts or adapter to plug these types of drives into standard IDE ports?

    thanks

I would presume that you use the same device as you use to connect a laptop hard drive to standard IDE. Look on eBay for that. Sorry if I'm talking complete ****e here.

nah, all the slimdvd drives i've seen have a different style of interface than the 2.5" hdd's. the 2.5" hdd's just have pins, while the dvd's seem to have a special sort of connector to facilitate inserting and removing the drive from the laptop itself. Pins would get bent, so there is a special interface for quick connect & disconnect without marring data pins.
