Electronics SMBUS from CNR riser slot?

I want to add some temperature and fan speed sensors to my mobo, so I build MadHackers projects to attach some Maxim ICs. Problem is, my mobo doesn't have an SMBUS connector (MSI KT3 Ultra ARU), and I didn't fancy soldering on to my RAM just to make one. I did some digging and found that the SMBUS is available on the CNR riser slot, so I attached it to that but MBM still does not detect the sensors.

Is the SMBUS on the CNR riser connected to the main SMBUS? Is it even connected at all? Only a multimeter could tell, so maybe if I can find the time... but the manual for the mobo does mention that it only supports modems and audio cards, not ethernet cards and AIUI ethernet cards are the ones that have a small ROM and use the SMBUS.

    Any suggestions?

After some looking around a CNR slot should inherently have SMBUS support as shown here: Intel
However I have to assume that it is connected to the main bus as if it isnt it doesnt make much sence.

Yeah, it should be connected, but who knows... It's something that's hard to test.
