Wow. Obviously my Jedi mind tricks worked on those weak minded fools at Westminster. Less than a week after I planted the suggestion and started the poll at bit, they're about to announce plans for legislation. "Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen it..." Smoking could be banned in every cafe, restaurant and most pubs in England within a few years under plans being unveiled by the government on Tuesday. BBC News has learned the White Paper on Public Health will plan to make most enclosed public areas, including offices and factories, smoke-free. Only private clubs, where members voted to allow smoking, and pubs which do not serve prepared food would be exempt. The plans mean that up to 90% of bars could be smoke-free within a few years. More at the Beeb This is excellent news IMHO. If you haven't already vote in the poll, or leave your thoughts in this thread.
Good good. Hope it goes through, finally I wont have to come back stinking when Ive been out for a drink.
Pub I go to is a private club so it is exempt from the ban. I doesn't bother me about a smoking ban but I have friends and family who enjoy a smoke in the pub on a Sunday.
