Not sure about smoothwall but ipcop there is an add on that allows this or I suppose you could add the ip to the ipchains in rc.firewall.up.

The mod can be found here http://www.zpdee.net/~joecat/ipbancgi.html
I havent tried it yet. I dont really know ipchains much but do a search on the net on how-tos.

Apparently IPCOP 1.2 is out soon, but the latest is 1.2 pre 4 which is a beta.
I get the links from http://ipcop.hopto.org/ just check out the downloads and the modification forum.
Here are some ipcop links that i check out
    http://www.ipcop.org/cgi-bin/twiki/view/IPCop/WebHome
    http://www.supporting-role.net/software/ipcop/software-list.php
    http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/ipcop/
    http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=ipcop-user

I have a few more links but there are on my other pc which is not on, I will add them later.

I'm running ipcop, I think smoothwall has over taken ipcop now due to its stateful packet inspection in smoothwall 2, and a few other features. I can't be bothered changing to smoothwall as it will mean a re-install and a download. Also there seems to be more ready available support for ipcop.

i was thinking of either waiting for the new smoothwall (not beta) or just install ipcop, as a lot more people seem to know about it, and get some kind of extra addons for it that would be useful...like the one i need...

I guess it's really a toss up between wanting decent technical support and ipchains (ipcop 0.1.x) or zero tech support and iptables (smoothwall gpl 2 beta).

After reading half the stuff about RM, I'd rather steer well clear of Smoothwall and stick with IPCop. Hopefully 0.2 won't take too long to get released.
