I was given a PS3 for Christmas and I've just shelled out for Gran Turismo 5. Currently I'm still offline - my router and broadband connection is one floor upstairs and it's not wireless so I need to work out how to get that sorted but in the meantime I'd like to know what games I should be looking at.

    What do you recommend?

depends what kind of games you like really.

both uncharted games, and god of war (1/2/3) are almost always a sure thing.

If you are willing to wait a couple of weeks, Little Big planet 2 will be coming out, which should be good (the demo showed some great potential)

Demons' souls. As you have probably heard, it's f**king hard. The levels themselves are excellent, and at just the right level of difficulty (hard, but doable if you are tactical) boss fights are a nightmare however.

If you have kids/young siblings Katamari is always good for a laugh.

Blazblue is good if you like beat'em ups

Yakuza 3 is very good, sort of a JPRG and GTA hybrid.

Burnout Paradise, Uncharted 2, Assassins Creed Brotherhood, Red Dead Redemption, Bayonetta, Wipeout HD, Brutal Legend, Heavy Rain.

Singstar and Buzz are good for a laugh party games with a few people round.

    MGS4 & all the uncharted's are a must!
Killzone 2 is also fun with still quite a few players online.

A lot of great suggestions in these! Check them all out and go with ones that appeal to your tastes the most.

The only game I own which isn't included in these lists is MW2, and it was a gift. :D

Get Demon's Souls. It's a brutally challenging old school RPG and it's a PS3 exclusive. If you are an RPG fanboy this game is a must have.

    Killzone 2 no doubt :)

It will take you some time to get used to the controls but it is proberly the best FPS on the consoles.

    COD Black ops.

May I recommend taking at look at powerline networking to connect your router to PS3, when it works, it's great!! By the way, prepare to download half the internet, once GT5 gets a chance to go online!
