7 minutes late getting back to my car. Just missed the ticket Nazi and he said I would have to appeal. If I pay within 14 days it's £60 quid. So do I challenge or just take it on the chin and pay up?
Do they not give so many minutes grace if your time has expired? looks like they were camping out and pounced when the clock ran out
I thought you could appeal and still get the half price rate most of the time, IIRC if you appeal the 14 days runs from the potential rejection. Make sure you say you want the fine to be put on hold in your appeal letter though.
60 quid doesn't sound like local council? is it 100 quid if you don't pay in 14 days? If it's a company like "eurocarparks" don't pay it. Google what the company is called and there is often heaps of online stuff - but I was still under the impression the only parking tickets you have to pay really are those from the local council. I've had 2 in life from parking companies that are not the local council, and I haven't paid them, and they send a few stroppy letters then they get lost. With local councils if you appeal within 14 days then it is put on hold until the appeal has run it's course - if it's one of the parking companies like eurocarparks I don't think it makes any difference if you appeal.
I have appealed but I'm not so confident. The little Hitler must have been camping nearby. The full price is £100 but reduced to £60 if paid within 14 days. The company site is here...http://www.premierparkingsolutions.com/ EDIT: It was in a multi storey in paignton. No idea if it is council owned.
If its not from the council it's basically just an invoice, just don't pay it you will get some letters about bailiffs eventually they will give up. Don't pay it! I didn't. If your worried about bailiffs they can't do anything without a CCJ which would require you to go to court, they can't just turn up. A
Looks like the kind of places that I have seen in the past where they monitor how long your parked in a space for. Did the machine ask for your reg at all or was it just simply pay your time?
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/parking-ticket-appeals This link may be more relevant if it was a private company however http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/private-parking-tickets Having had a quick read you can appeal if it's unfair (unclear signs etc) but maybe not otherwise
this one is good too - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=2666059 Basically don't pay it
To play devils advocate: You were only 7 minutes late, but you were late and don't seem to be complaining about not being aware of the rules. Where do can draw the line when it comes to "only x minutes", other than just using the actual period of time allowed?
I wasn't aware of any rules as such. I estimated my time to be 2 hours and was just over. If you mean did I read any signs in the car park then no I did not take the time to read them.
Doesn't matter as they are con men anyway The local council parking officials here in brighton have to Observe your car for an amount of time before issueing you a ticket, to ensure it's not something like you've just missed the time or you are at the machine getting a ticket etc. That's because while they are almost all out conmen, they are still the local council. Where as, premier parking solutions or whatever they are called, are all out conmen.
Wooooahhh Careful, you're quoting old advice. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=4816822 Read this. Learn. Ignoring is NOT the right advice in England and Wales currently.
As Cei said, MSE has a nice flowchat http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=65106611&postcount=12
Don't get me wrong I'd be perfectly happy if you appeal and I hope you don't have the pay the bunch of cynical money grabbing *******s. However, you paid for 2hrs parking in what was clearly a pay car park (not on a road with disparate signs and poor markings). And you were over 2hrs. I'd fear that if it was me, thinking purely dispassionately, I'd struggle to find something to appeal about. I'm not sure "it was only 7 minutes over" would stand up.
"The fine is given on the pretense of 'loss of income' which for the 7 minutes he was there can't possibly constitute a fine of £60" or at least that's the vibe I get from a bit of reading
