So yeah, I ran into Linus' video today about an 8GB kit of RAM from Patriot...

    Video

Yes you heard right, 2.4Ghz RAM. Wow.

Available at Overclockers for just under £100 :thumb:

Bought some boggo Corsair stuff that overclocks to 2.4Ghz no bother at cas10, doesn't seem a great benefit to most things, probably quite handy if you use integrated GPU

2400 for my RAM is no sweat. Samsung Green 1600, look at the thread on XS.

    11-11-11-30 timings... that's quiet poor.

If it's 1T, it's still not half bad. Some apps are still more about fast memory speeds than about timings, but I agree those timings aren't the best. If you're running something like a Llano, the speed is a lot more important than the timings (though if you've got the speed and the timings, it's even better.)

I am content with my 200mhz less with reasonably tighter timings

If there were any veritable benefits, then this would be a lot more interesting. But most of the advantage of higher speed memory is offset by higher latencies and higher voltages, so it's not super exciting.

I have tested my system at both 1600 MHz (8-8-8-24-1T) and 2133 MHz (9-11-10-27-1T) and the differences, synthetic or real life, are negligible.

I suppose these would make more of a difference in an AMD system, assuming they would work at full speed.

Pfft! Corsair laugh at your microscopic 2600MHz!

I now want to upgrade my RAM, it is just that my board will not support it. :(

It's nice and all that, but I'd sooner get 16gb of 1600 c9 for £80.

I'd sooner get the same knowing it can hit those kinds of crazy speeds without caring. Aka; Samsung 30nm stuff. 1600 at 1.35, or 2133 at 1.5. Not a bad trade in my mind.

AMD systems wouldn't see any benefit from this, save Llano, and that's only because the faster memory actually improves GPU performance (Oh the Irony! llano has a better memory controller than Bulldozer!)

    G.Skill have 2800 already too.

Those Corsair 'sinks look extremely tasty.
