Right... It's currently around 2am... at 1:30pm today the doors will open to a gig which I have been preparing for, for the last 4 weeks... and have been hoping one would happen since Dec 12th... Yes, My all time ever favorite band ever, ever. EVER Colour of Fire are doing a set for a tsunami appeal gig... Now I couldn't give two shits about the tsunami... but... I NEED TO SEE THEM AGAIN... (they do actually recognize me which is nice hehe) Here's the dilly-o.. Booked day off work Requisitioned copious amounts of alcohol to drink in a 500ml coca cola bottle in a subtle manor. Purchased Train tickets.. Purchased new clothing for such event.... Prepared bootlegging stuffs I however forgot... to buy a ticket to the gig.. Now... I was planning to get there about 2 hours before doors... but... I'm quite likely having to camp outside and wait for one the guys to take pity and let me in with them if I help them with gear... And the earliest bus I can get (which does also require walking) is at 5am... so i have 3 hours almost... but it beats a 45min change wherein I'd have to walk half a city to the other station... so... ok i lied about the 5am bus.. but it's actually.. 5:34 in to town at 5:58... and the train leaves at 6:36 hopefully i'll have enough time.. and then this is what the journey looks like... NOTTINGHAM 06:36 GRANTHAM 07:07 change departing at: 07:23 YORK 08:31 so yeh it'll be 8:30 in york. 5 hours until doors... oh yeh... and I'll have no sleep.... SOUNDS LIKE SUCH A GOOD PLAN... I'm going to die. (oh yeh... not to mention the fact they have the strictest ID policy ever.... and I don't have ID... only NCN+NUS card... bus pass... credit card... debit cards... and payslip..)
no ticket?! unlucky, hey you technically, credit card and NUS will get you in if you prove your signature too, if the person asking for it is nice (like me) Hope all goes well for you though.
slight problem in the fact my NUS card is technically for a city other than the one i'm going to... but I'll give it a go.... if all else fails hopefully one of the bandmembers will vouch for me... they all know i'm 18 anyway so... pfft..

No, he's right, Fibbers take passport or drivers license style ID's only. They're part of the barfly group and v.strict on ID to the point where they've got the glass collectors checking that no1 without a stamp on their hand is having a crafty swig of some randoms beer. It's a 'serious' music venue. lol. I know its not much use to you now jamesy seeing as you'll allready be in york but the website says there's still a few tickets left providing ur first in PS: Haha you stupid prune.

Results... Did get in... cause I went and talked to the nice barlady before they opened properly.... BUT JESUS WHAT A HOLE!... that place is in the middle of nowhere... it makes Rock City look like an arena!... HELL! It makes city look GOOD! Spend a large amount of the time wandering around getting lost... and then doing it deliberately to try and learn my way around... cause i did indeed have around 6 hours to kill I did this: Walking around... getting lost.. then going minster about 10 times... realised there's only so much fun you can have inside a huge building... waited until ANY bar opened... (The Last Drop Inn) which was small... but quite nice... massively overpriced tho... seeking internet access... (evil eye's was down and I was scared by the cinema basement thingy..) went a few phone shops to demo the phones i'm tempted to buy... noticed the most tragicly pretentiously goffic shop ever.... but with one of the better piercing sidelines I've seen in a long time... and I'm actually considering going back to get my tongue done there... would have got it done there and then... but I valued talking... and eating... and getting pished as a kipper.. anyhoo... Kinda can't hear properly atm.. so that's funtastic..

Wtf - it's in the centre of york! How the hell is the stonebow in the middle of nowhere? you're about 150 metres away from marks n spencers fs! Fibbers is small n 'cosy' but they make fantastic food during le day . Also - I've never been to 'rock city' so can't comment but my understanding is that it's a sort of club/venue thing with organised nights etc whereas fibbers is a venue where you can sit (if you're lucky) and watch a few bands play :/ .
Yeh... actually I'd liken fibbers more to Rescue rooms.... but even then I much prefere RR to Fibb... it's on the edge of goodness... and stonebow is the most random crappy bit... and I slept enough to wake up... ring in sick and then fall back to bed heh
