ok people here is the deal
im building a computer that is gonna run very hot, planning on OCing and everything
    in short, the specs are
    i7 920 with a v8 cooler from Cooler Master
    2x280 supercloacked
    6gb dominator and 3HDDs

we all know GPUs and CPUs run very hot
    so here is my question

i have an 830 stacker from Cooler MAster
    and bought 4 120mm fans

I wanted to know having in mind my previous specs
which fan distribution would u guyz use

what i did was the following , u tell me what u think

i got the 130mm fan from the PSU blowing out
3x120mm on the side door, blowing out (2 in the GPUs and 1 in the memories)
+ the 120mm fan under the PSU blowing out
and i got the HDD rack fan blowing in
and an upper 120mm fan blowing in
    Low Preassure Cheesecake :p

now u guy tell me if my distribution is fine or would u change anything

I wouldn't personally have a fan at the top as an intake, heat rises so why push against it?

Seconded. I'm fairly sure that ordinarily, fans on the back and top are exhaust fans, and fans on the left side and front are intake fans.
If you happen to have a fan on the right hand side I suppose that would be exhaust too, but I've only seen one case with a fan there (the Thermaltake Spedo IIRC).

Another good clue is any part of the case with a dust filter is likely used for intake of air.

You're looking for good quick throughflow, to keep the air moving through the case, to keep temps down best.

havent really thought of that but u certainly right, so the upper is going to be an outtake,

and the one which was blowing out where the ram is, now is gonna be an intake, and i belive ill have a nice flow there
    any other suggestions?

The fans on the side should all be intake or all be exhaust. One thing you don't want is to have something of a loop created where one fan just exhausts most of the air that the fan right next to it just pushed in and visa versa.

If I were you, I'd make your side and front fans intake, and your top, rear, and bottom fans exhaust. It's positive pressure, sure, but that can be good for dust management (dust is theoretically forced out of the case instead of drawn into it in a negative pressure configuration). Think of it as one giant top-down cooler over your entire motherboard.

personally (Antec P182 user) i would seal the side ports, as those will just create turbulence. just intake at front, output at back and top.

well, at least that's the concept of P182, and it works great.

the intake in the side would be a mistake, for sure, it would just cause chaos on my air-flow

im just gonna create low preassure inside, and the air is gonna push in from the back of the mobo, and from right under the case

so its gonna be 3 exhausts in the side

wuyanxu, cm 830 stacker is quite hard to seal, since its open fromealmost everywhere the best option is to use these racks to let air flow in by itself as i been told

The problem with "negative pressure" fan placement is that in practice that means that all the holes in the case are pulling in DUST. Lots and lots of it. So if there just are enough filtered fan holes in the case (I have no idea tbh what case that is) I'd use them and see if it's enough...

    anyway hehe
im gpoing for negative pressure, but ill need dust filters,
good thing i dont live in a dusty place

You say that, but there's always more dust than you think.

Also, see here for home-made dust filters. Or you could buy some proper ones, here or here.
IMO the first proper one (chilledpc.co.uk) looks the best.

i work at a computer manufacturer and got some black dust filters for my vents hehe

I would go with more fans, keep the ones on the side, because if you just rely on the intake at the front and the exhausts at the rear and top, there will probably be a fair bit of stagnant air near the GPUs, you payed for the fans, I say use em! That is going to be a toasty rig! Also regarding airflow pimonserry, it can go whereever you want it to, as long as you plan it, for example my latest case is going to have rear and front as intakes but an equal number of fans in the foor as exhausts, same with my TJ07, 2 intakes at the rear blowing forward, and roof exhausts. I think it is a better idea as it means the immediately how components like CPU, MOSFET get a good dose of fresh air rather than relying on the front intake to get there, pass other hot components before being expelled, just my 2pence though
