My god man, there's so many people here and everywhere that like metal musique now. There are so many bands playing that sort of stuff now as well. I can't stand the stuff.

Hmm, I don't really have much else to say, hehe. I think I'll start a poll.

No!! Don't be daft!! It's great you mofo.

I'm not the biggest of metal fans, but I like a huge range of stuff. I think metal is great when it's done really well.

Maybe I've heard the wrong stuff. I can't actually even remember what bands it is I've heard. I just didn't like the whole sound.

Any bands or songs you'd recommend for a listen to convert an Indie fan?

    Converge - Homewrecker...

    :D

Ok that may put you off for life. I like long soaring metal tracks, I'll post some examples later ;)

lol, I used to actually really like Black Sabbath stuff. I was listening to that for a while. Is that metal? I dunno. It's a little more thoughtful than most new stuff I've heard, I think.

Yes, Sabbath is concidered to be metal... They're actually concidered to be the grandather of today's metal sound.

Different strokes for different folks (or something).

Can't say I am much of a fan, but there are exceptions of course. I listen to most sorts of relatively modern music, and I can't say metal is my favourite, but I wouldn't go as far as to generalise by saying 'it sux0rs'....

In my book, it's either good or it's crap. Some I like, some I hate.

dammit boi, it's time the major music types changed in this country, i'm sick of getting s**t from idiots in trackies... dance and poop has been the major music influence in this country for too long, now people are broadening their musical views people get all paranoid thinkin it's a "revolution"

I agree with RTT, most of it is rather excellent, some however is purest ****e - i'd rather listen to britney than white noise called "metal"

Uh, yeah, Converge is not what you'd play to convert someone.

It'll just make their ears throw up from being given pure beauty instead of teh trash they've been fed their entire lives :blah:

I say aye to the metal. But also to pop and techno. I'm the whore.

That's very true, but i was quoting the three main groups of people that live in this area in a summary, not trying to be too specific as i know it's different everywhere :)

im just amused by the gangs of 15 yearolds in their slipknot hoodies that seem to hang around everywhere with crappy haircuts.

its kind of confusing its meant to be some sort of alternative music but they all look the same.

lol, that's exactly the thing I was wondering. Although, we shouldn't really mix clothing and music, I don't think. The two are completely seperate things, or so they should be.

I got refused entry to an alternative/rock type club a while back because I didn't look 'alternative' enough. The bouncer told me, "It's a private rock night tonight, Sir". Bah, I hate that.

As Sid points out. You have to disassociate the music from youth culture.

Dressing the same, peer pressure and a desire for 'acceptance' are all across-the-board facets of youth. Music is simply one of the drivers in creating a 'peer group' to be involved in.

It is the irony that there is no true independance, even though people claim to be so unique and different. In fact how many people have you known in your lifetime who have been referred to as 'A bit weird' and yet in their weirdness they are strikingly similar to other people you know like that.. they are just clones of a different minority group.

If you like to gamble, I tell you I'm your man,
You win some, lose some, all the same to me,
The pleasure is to play, makes no difference what you say,
I don't share your greed, the only card I need is
    The Ace Of Spades

    Lemmy forever! :D
