Someone likes their extreme metal! When i was 12/13 i was very much into the whole Slipknot/Korn hoddie scene. Now a little older i just wear whatever and although i still listen to metal its completely different style of metal. Couple of my favourite bands now just to give an example: The Devin Townsend Band Evergrey Cage Paradise Lost Nevermore
I'm a thrash/death metal fan and I think most popular metal is a load of p00, throwing a guitar and adding a few (crap) rifts doesn't make good metal. Also on the subject, I'm a little annoyed with the amount of bands that are selling out; they call it maturing, bah! /rant 'doc
it always depends, the overcomercialisatio of some bands has most definately ruined it, for just one example with the loss of limp bizkits guitarist wes boarland the new guitarist plays 7 string, and theyve gone metal, it ruins the whole meaning of metal im my opinion... why couldnt it just stay undergroundlike the good old days
examples of good metal: slipknot pree iowa (slipknot-slipknot & slipknot-mate feed kill repeat) raging speedhorn sikth american head charge etc etc
MFKR was funky in places - had Incubus Style guitars RS have always been and will continue to be a steaming pile of crap. Two hardcore songs does not a hardcore band make... Sikth are terrible and AHC would be okay if they just stuck to trying to be Faith No More... *n
You guys accross the ocean like your metal hard. Let's set our wayback machines for the 70's and talk about metal when metal nothing more than really heavy rock. Judas Priest Led Zeppelin Van Halen Ozzy (Sabbath) AC/DC Iron Madien Kiss This list is endless. These bands were pioneers (granted mostly from your side of the ocean) but they broke through to give us the s**t we have now. If I have to hear one more Nickelback, Kid Rock, Creed, etc. song I think I think I am going to beat my head against a brick wall I'm not talking about Pissing Razors, but honest to goodness heavy metal. Heck even the lame hairbands from the 80's, Pioson, Metallica, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, Guns and Roses (not so lame back when), Winger, etc. were/are better than the crap they pump out now. Help us obi-won your our only hope
I agree with what your saying their except that they were really heavy metal lol, zepplin rock but their not heavy and the last 3 imo are well crap (this is only my opinion im sure many people think they are great) 'doc
I don't like 'classic rock'. The older stuff I like is much more rock and roll singer/songwriters...Neil young and so on. *n
raging speedhorn = utter piss they where a warm up along with american head charge for rammstein. Everyone sat down during raging speedhorn and chanted them off the stage followed by a few bottles. American head charge actually made me stand up Then of course rammstein... i need say no more. the best german band ever, and the best live band PERIOD <edit>i apolagise for the bad grammar and generally hard to read post</edit>
Its all down to personal choice, i would have to agree that alot of todays metal music is an utter crock of s***e, but i would rather listen to it then music such as found on cd's like the annual etc, imo these cd's should be treated worse then AOL cd's. i still cant understand why someone would want to listen to a noise that was at one stage about 400 digital processes ago an instruments, its like torture. Then again i just controdicted myself
Never heard of Either Miocene or Iron Monkey, but do they have flame throwers across the stage, flame thrower gas mask thingies, set fire to mic stands/guitars/themselves, attach flares to themselves, blow up random things, wear lazers on their heads, fake shag the keyboard player with a plastic cock that ijaculates over the moshers, and a rubber dingy? plus other things that dont come to mind atm
To be fair, I'd rather listen to some good elecronica than just about any metal band since 2001... me32dc - that's a stage show...not a live band best live band is the one that communicates the most energy and their music the best in a live setting...not the one with the fanciest lights *n
ok it is a stage show, but i never felt more at with music than at their gigs. the show helps you really get into the songs. a part of this is i now know all their lyrics even though i cant speak german... it is a sad life i have
I prefer a gig where theres a band that can play all there instruments with good riffs and lyrics that you can get into and go crazy to instead of some german freak blowing a fake load over you whilst there guitars scream out the same boring powerchords..... - M@
hey! rammstein are one of thefew bands who sound as good live as they do on CD, most bands cant play anywhere as good live as they can in a studio
