    Hi all,

As the title are there Red drives in the my cloud external drives? Also do you get any warranty if you remove it from the chassis?

    Thanks

A few reviews seem to suggest that they're reds, but there's no warranty for the standalone drive once it's removed in theory. In practice, the only way you can know is to whip it out and check the SN

Can you do SMART over USB? You might be able to get the serial that way.

No WD myCloud internal drives are only warranted when left in the original enclosure (with all warranty seals intact naturally). It just tells you it's an OEM drive.

Or at least that's what happened when I stripped some down at work.
