Back to Desperados III for the DLC and some of the extra missions added as free updates, so good. Possibly getting Partisans 1941 for Christmas which looks commandos-esque so crossing my fingers it'll be able to meet the new expectations created by Shadow Tactics/Desperados III!
Been playing WoW Shadowlands for the last week or so. Not drawing me in as much as new WoW expacs have done in the past. I seem to be getting a bit bored with games but, maybe Elder Scrolls 6 will help, IF it ever appears.
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. Seems a lot less buggy than Control, but there's been a few instances of broken lighting - including in the intro - and I stopped playing at lunchtime 'cos I fell through the floor of the world and got stuck. Hope I don't have to do the rune door again, that'd be annoying.
That's high on my list to resume, surprisingly good game. If you have the means to play it in VR I highly recommend it, works so bloody well. Speaking as someone who's lukewarm on VR generally.
I do not, sadly. I'm playing it on the Xbone via Game Pass. I am using headphones, though, which is basically VR for your ears.
I found Senua's Sacrifice hard to play for long in one sitting... Really started to mess with my head!
I did die in an early mission when the voices started screaming "she's going the wrong way" and I stupidly believed them!
I found that it really got under my skin sometimes. Having the voices repeatedly berate you, telling you you're not good enough, or you're going to fail, or whatever, just... yeah... got a bit too real at times! It's a bloody great game though, well worth playing. Really looking forward to the sequel, especially the Heilung soundtrack oh my god... <3 <3
Thankfully, it had saved at the rune door, so I didn't have to redo that. Turns out I was supposed to trigger an animated transition to the next level at the end of the corridor, but somehow it didn't trigger - so I ran past the edge of the current level and fell through the floor. Think I'm nearly at the end now.
Picked up so many games this Christmas that I haven't touched yet. With my lovely wife buying me a new controller for Christmas, I've ended up playing a game I got last Christmas and had barely touched, Dark Souls Remastered. I'm not far into it I think as I'm rubbish and it's brutal so very slow progress, but it's highly addicitive.
Replaying Doom (2016), in an attempt to stave off my desire to purchase Doom Eternal. Spoiler: it's not working. About the only thing that has successfully paused me from clicking that "buy" button is the requirement of a Bethesda account. I'll never play multiplayer, so I really don't see why it's necessary.
It's a terrific game get it bought I don't really like having all the different launchers and accounts but they're easy to close down/disable and gives a bit of competition when the same game is available on different platforms to help keep prices down. BFV is still my game of choice when I get the opportunity. I am looking forward to another one set in modern times like BF3 and 4 though.
Mass Effect: Andromeda Yup, I'm going back in to see how it fares - the first time I played it through, real life was interfering with potential enjoyment. I initially started playing a completely new walkthrough, then thought 'sod it' and started a new game +, importing my old character. Even with this advantage, the 'Insanity' difficulty still keeps me on my toes. I'm a couple of hours in - the acting is a little wooden and dialogue is a bit contrived in some places ("my face is tired..."), but the gameplay is really fun and in my opinion flows better than the original trilogy. And bugger me it's gorgeous graphically. I just wish it was co-op. That would be divine.
Been playing through Watch Dogs Legion as there was a cheap offer for it over Christmas, it's been alright so far... experienced quite a few bugs that have forced me to need to alt-f4 and reboot the game and it crashes a lot more than anything else I've played in a long time. The game is insanely easy, the puzzles are much easier than the ones in Watch Dogs 2 and the locations you break into are so lacking in guards it's trivial to walk around them with barely any need to duck behind something or knock someone out. The driving is awful beyond reason, I can't understand how they made it feel worse than the previous games but they managed it some how. I think it could really do with a bit more challenge, would be nice if you had to hack the CCTV cameras before you could use them to scout a location, would also be nice if enemies sometimes had a hacker on their side so they could use the same cameras that you use to try and seek you out... forcing you to either disable the cameras and go in blind or be extra careful about which cameras you sit under.
Still resisting. I liked BF:BC2 and BF3, but I never got into 4. I think largely because I moved, and playing with the friends I used to when, well, the other side of the world meant horrible lag... I was very, very late to ME: Andromeda, so completely missed all of the early horror with dodgy animations etc. It does have the odd "uncanny valley" moment but I had a blast with it. Not the greatest story ever, but still pretty good! To be honest, I think they may have done better to avoid calling it "Mass Effect", but eagle-eyed hindsight and all that...
I just finished playing through Mirror's Edge (again). To this day I think it looks amazing, it's design and graphics have aged well IMHO, "like fine wine." On the other hand I just started playing Mirror's Edge: Catalyst. While it looks nice. it doesn't have the same aging well feel to it. It's a 5 year old game and feels as such. Then my 7 year old laptop reminded me not to complain and completely hung.
Both the Mirror's Edge games are brilliant - I like the first one as it can be done in a long afternoon if you want. Been meaning to replay the second one - some of the time trials are brutal.
