Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! Must admit I am getting a bit bored with this game now. The Evil Within. Just started it and am not impressed. Hopefully that will change. Alien: Isolation. Seemed to have lost interest I suspect this is because I more of a killing machine and whereas a bit of stealth is OK I don't want to have to do it all the time.
Currently I am playing: Starcraft 2 CS:GO BF4 Every so often I will mix in some Rust or another FPS game. I really like the games with some competition. That is one of the main reasons I have been playing csgo and sc2 a lot.
Bayonetta - insert batshit crazy pic of Sarah Palin here. It's like playing Golden Axe, on speed, in lycra, with massive ****ing gun- stilettos, turned up to 11. Pure arcade awesomeness. Once I actually know what I'm doing I think it's going to melt my brain.
****ing FTL. Can't get past the damn final boss!!! Keep getting messed around by the fleet, which then gets me basically destroyed before I can take him on. Next time I'm just going to sit at the base until he turns up.
Currently playing Legends of wrestlemania on the PS3, fun though does get a bit repetitive shame noone playing online on it no more, understandable due to age
Following the RPS article on survival mods, I've decided to give Skyrim another go. Frostfall really makes a huge difference for overall playing experience. Whereas I previously always felt detached from the world and found it a bit sterile, for some reason the mod makes it so much easier to immerse yourself. When I first had to set up camp in the mountains because of a heavy snowstorm, barely survived because I didn't have enough wood for a fire, and finally got to the town tavern on the other side to warm up I felt more connected to my player character than at any point before. I still think Morrowind is the best Elder Scrolls game, but not by far any more.
Costume Quest 2 JRPG where you wear Halloween costumes and go trick or treating. The story of the sequel is much better than the first. It's a short game, can be beat in ~8-12hrs, but very fun. Both the first and this sequel are well worth a play, especially if you have a family and want to get them into games as well. All in all, super fun. They are a bit easy, but the writing makes up for it. If you like Halloween, you'll likely enjoy this game.
The Evil Within (demo). Alright so far, but seems to run fairly slowly on my computer. It runs OK for a but, then has a little hickup as it pauses for a moment before continuing (think the 1gb VRam is limiting me). Not sure I'll be buying it! Fairly fun though, but definitely plays better in the Xbox 360 pad rather than keyboard.
Space Hulk: Ascension I meant to play this on my laptop whilst at the folks during Christmas, but decided to give it a quick go. Suffice to say I now cannot stop playing it and was responsible for me going to bed two hours later than planned on Sunday. I'm loving the ability to customise my terminators (currently playing as Ultramarines) and the unlockable weapons add a desire to keep playing. Unfortunately the developers seemed to have dispensed with the 'kill cam', which I rather liked. Still, there's now a first person camera window, so you can see the killing from your terminator's point of view. Be warned - the impossible mode really can mean it!
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U I've never played a Smash game. I have booted up and explored Brawl (Wii) but I didn't research the control system first. It felt frantic and I dismissed it as too steep a learning curve to bother with at the time. But now I know how simple the control scheme is, and now I love it. So much going on, so much fun, and this is just playing it single-player. This is a brilliant game for university students, wish I could take it back in time with me to my uni days.
The Gamecube version is the best one by far (biased). I play using the apparently exceptionally hard to get ahold of gamecube adapter for Wii U. Just like the old days. It's easy to get into, but so hard to master.
If I'm solo I've been playing some heroes of the storm alpha (its kinda meh), league of legends (kinda meh also). With friends I've been going hard with dota (the game you love to hate, and hate to love, but can't stop playing), and don't starve together.
Currently playing quite a bit of Don't Starve Together with my brother which I'm loving. Still working my way through Monkey Island™ 2 Special Edition: LeChuck’s Revenge™ with my Dad as well, good times .
Still playing Space Hulk: Ascension, which is excellent. Playing some games in the mean time as well: Alien:Isolation - oh dear God, this game is scary. I can only play it in a few bursts at a time. I'm currently playing it on my laptop (1080p, everything maxxed, running well) which takes some of the edge off. Playing it on my PC was quite frankly too nerve wracking. I find that seeing the alien itself isn't too bad, it's when I can't see it that I'm at my most creeped out. Space Run - A rather fun tower defence based game. You have a space ship built with hexagonal modules that have the usual selection of guns, shields and power boosts to use against asteroids and pirates. Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team - a third person isometric style shoot'em up game apparently using the Dawn of War 2 engine where you can play as a Space Marine of a certain class (Librarian, Techmarine, Devastator or Assault) battling Orks and Tyranids. I quite like it but it's full of bugs; for example, the third mission will have you dying over and over right at the start until you position your Marine just right on a lift that you can't see, or the wonky camera that gets stuck behind things, or the fact that the game crashes relatively often.
