I've been playing Chants of Sennaar with my youngest of an evening. Absolutely loving it. I think we're almost at the end now, though. It's been fun - she drew a chart of each of the character types t'other day.
I've been replaying Roller Coaster Tycoon, So far, I've completed all RCT and RCT Added Attractions parks, and I'm working my way through the RCT Loopy Landscapes parks. Then it's onto RCT2. I am using the OpenRCT2 Launcher. Sam
I put Control on last night and then promptly passed out on the sofa. I might have to start a new thread entitled "What are you intending/trying to play right now?"
Boltgun: Forges of Corruption Its more of the same shooty goodness, but more focussed on short corridor elements followed by an arena. Which isnt bad per se, but is very obvious. Hope they do a sequel with Tyranids as the bad guys
That's the cover of the Epic Space Marine box I had! On a weekly basis I regret selling off that collection. Pants. That track's actually not bad. I reckon blared out through a vox-grille into the faces of terrified heretics/brood mongs, we could crush resistance swiftly. Reminds me a bit of Judas Priest. In the grim darkness of the far future, there would be no time to be bored.
Finally booted up AC Mirage on the PS5. So far, so good although I must say I'm a bit disappointed by the graphics. Can't say they're pushing the PS5 at all - it has nothing on the HFW and it's dlc.
A bit meta for my usual fare, but been playing a lot of "Bodycam" while in early access, a breath of fresh air for FPS. Not complicated but very well done, and incredible levels coming.
Boltgun: Forges of Corruption Decided to pick this up at the weekend and have played a couple of levels so far. Just like pizza, more is always better. Mechwarrior 5 Mercs All the original DLC was on sale, so I had a moment of YOLO and bought them. Then installed all the most popular mods (namely the "Yet Another" series). Now I can customise a vastly extended number of 'mechs with a dizzying variety of options*...or at least I will once I get past the first few campaign missions, which have become insanely hard, because the YAML comes with a sort of difficulty setting and I went with "Bonkers". And I started a new campaign as all the DLCs won't let me start them unless I do a dedicated career thing. I don't know why, but I find this game insanely addictive, despite the somewhat budget presentation of the game. I completed it back in 2022 after over 100 hours, and gave myself a migraine after starting playing it one Friday after work and pretty much didn't stop until Sunday evening, after having probably at most 6 hours sleep. Now gimme my King Crab with four LBX AC10s - I gots me some headshotting to do. Or, given the installed mods make the game function more like MWO, maybe I can get a Direwolf (or Daishi, if you're a goddamn n00b) and arm it with ALL THE MEDIUM PULSE LASERS. Also, I have to try out the melee weapons as they weren't in the game last time I played. I was hoping to try a Fafnir, but unfortunately, the mod that adds that isn't compatible with the YAML mod. *Seriously, there's, like, a thousand types of heat sinks.
The hard difficulty lasted until the endgame boss run. I'm just not pro gamer enough apparently. Completed for the third time, and now parking it for a bit lest I ruin it. Zenless Zone Zero downloaded this morning and seems like it offers the same sort of super-satisfying combat that I liked so much in Stellar Blade. And as an anime gacha veteran at this point, that's also right up my alley. I wasn't planning on playing it at all, but some reviews and videos have convinced me - as it seems suited to keeping it casual and not demanding too much time, which would be for the best. I wouldn't recommend it to others though... crack gacha: not even once.
Mechwarrior 5 Mercs Last weekend I was up until 0530 playing this game - SEND HELP. The weekend before, I played 14 hours straight and actually did my back in from being in the same slouched position for that long. Loving the subtle differences the mods I've installed make. I've also learnt to use the instant action mode to trial mech builds before sinking my hard earned c-bills: I lost a lot of money on that pretty useless King Crab I ended up selling after it turned out to be a bit useless. Oh well, I did get to earn some money using it at least. Finding suitable mechs to buy is unlikely, and salvaging is far harder than it used to be. Best to see if you can pick up the hero mechs. Mechs wot I own: Mr Awesome: An Awesome (80 tonne assault) tricked out with an oversized engine, heat sinks galore, and not one, not two, not three, but FOUR PPC-Xs. Queue me running around at 70KPH in a comparatively well armoured mech that can absolutely smash things apart once within ~100m. Makes those Solaris tournaments a little one-sided. Atlas Shrugged: Super armoured, super engined, and armed with six(!) SRM6s and two PPC-Xs. Runs at a shade above 60KPH and can smashi things a teeny bit further away compared to Mr Awesome. Costs a damn fortune to repair though, so used sparingly. The Orion Twins: A pair of heavily armoured 75 tonne mechs, armed with Large SB Lasers and SRM6s. Durable, relatively quick and able to provide good supporting firepower at long and short ranges. I give these to my two main wingmen and they perform well. Thanks to some perks, cost eff all to repair, and are quick to do so, even when a bit gets ripped off. Warhammer 40K: Warhammer 70 tonne heavy armed with two Large SB Lasers and two PPC-Xs. Enables engaging at range with moderate effectiveness, and can make a mess if things get personal. My backup mech if my assault mechs are both out of action. Likes to lose its arms, but fortunately there's nothing installed in them. You'll notice I use the PPC-Xs a lot. Damn things are stupid powerful and need balancing a bit better - I'd severely rack up their heat generation and decrease their number of projectiles (thing's basically a PPC shotgun). Fortunately, the game can still be difficult enough to not make this auto win.
I bought BallisticNG recently, basically a modern WipEout clone. Huge amount of fun, it really does recapture that classic WipEout “feel”. It also supports VR. Make sure you haven’t eaten a big meal if you’re gonna play it in VR. I need a lie down, I don’t want to see my pizza again.
Persona 5 Royal I’m 10hrs in and I feel like I’m barely scratching the surface. Thoroughly enjoying it so far though. The mechanics seemed utterly baffling to begin with but I think I’m getting the hang of some of the more in-depth stuff.
wukong, didnt think there would be game to make the 4090 cry. performance aint that bad and its wrongly labeled as souls type game. but i did enjoy it chinese audio with subs is best as english is very outta synch with lip movement
Yeah, seems like they kept the original chinese lip syncing for all languages. The performance ain't too bad tbh, yes it runs like **** on maxed settings, but stick it on high or very high and it still looks as good if not better than other AAA games and runs fine.
That's pretty normal for character dialogue that was originally recorded in another language. Even with phoneme systems that automate the animation of facial movements, you'd still need a version for the native language (Chinese, Japanese, whatever) and a version for English. It's a lot cheaper and easier to just do an old-school dubbing! It's one of the reasons I tend to go 'full weeb' and use original Japanese dialogue in Final Fantasy games (when I have the option).
Lost Planet. Jeez, did I really think this game was good when I was a young 'un? I've seen Tamagochi with more personality. The world design and monsters are cool I guess. But alongside today's animé culture it's just the most bland, cookie cutter product. Feels a bit like an early 2000s arcade game on steroids. Again, young me would have thought that was a good pitch, but in the age of Witcher 3s and Baldurs Gates it's just boring.
