Blue Prince, with the youngest. Loving it. I mean, I had more fun with Chants of Senaar when we played that together, but there's a lot more to this one - though it's also luck based, unlike the pure puzzling of CoS. So close to having unlocked the 46th room now, but nowhere near having uncovered all the secrets!
Just been playing a bit of the Indiana Jones game on the A750. Despite having only 8GB of RAM and this apparently being a problem for the game it seems to run pretty fine at a nigh on locked 60 (adaptive vsync enabled) at mostly high settings (including textures) 1440p with XeSS on Quality. Game warns that there isn't enough VRAM but only noticed a couple of stutters in the ~ hour I played. Can't see anything obvious in the game which suggests it is running some sort of Texture LoD like Hogwarts will do so *shrugs*.
Got bored it grinding out XCOM2, so did the last mission and finished it. Started XCOM: Chimera Squad… again… but I just didn’t grab me… again… Moved on to Tactical Breach Wizards instead and it is just an absolute riot. Definitely scratches that XCOM itch, but each encounter is more like a puzzle. It never feels too punishingly difficult, and, far from being a "whoops, I should not have done that" save-scum mechanic, the game actively encourages you to use the 'rewind' function to try different outcomes. The dialogue and skits between the characters is by far the best part about it, I look forward to that more than the missions.
Did you play Phoenix Point? I liked it although I never finished it. I did finish the modern Xcom games though.
I suspect that this was a joke that I did not get - it's All The Mods 10 - basically every major modpack slammed together to get a massive all-in-one style pack.
Yep, safe to say this is quite high up there now. Absolutely loving this game. It’s not exactly in-depth combat - I mean… your team explicitly uses non-lethal methods. Well… maybe aside from the possibly rather questionable methods employed by your necromancer-- sorry, necromedic… . Encounters are definitely more of a puzzle than something like the recent XCOM games, but there are definitely still tactical and strategic elements to them. The characters are an absolute riot. The “between-encounter” scenes with the characters are absolutely fantastic, and definitely a highlight of the game. The characters are very well written, they definitely put a lot of attention into making them believable and fleshed-out. And if you don’t think that Jen is the best of the lot then you & I can’t be friends. That’s the sucker I couldn’t remember… I vaguely remembered an XCOM-a-like from the XCOM/UFO OG Julian Gollop, but damned if I could remember what it was called . That should make it pretty obvious that, no, I have not played it… I’ll add it to my wishlist though; I’ve got a bit of a queue going at the moment, but I’ll look it up the next time I get a hankerin’ for more XCOM-a-likes.
Ok, I get distracted in games - I'm not apologising. I do think it's now time in my first play through to finally meet up with Hanako. Poor sod's been waiting a while. Lol.
Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered Not long ago I played the original, but decided to replay it since getting the new GPU. Man it looks so good. Nice story too.
Amerzone - The Explorer's Legacy - 2025 remake I have been a HUGE fan of the Syberia series of point and click adventure games for years and this is the game that kicked it all off. Been wanting to play it for years but never really wanted to spend the money on getting the original 1999 version. This remake is beautiful and fills in the gaps and references from the Syberia series nicely.
Oblivion remake after I got completely fed up with Indiana Jones and the trial of broken stealth takedowns. Deliberately playing on an easier difficulty mainly to enjoy the games story and various quests.
How fixed is the levelling? I remember the original feeling like every time you got stronger the game made you feel weaker. It was more valuable staying weaker
Not far enough in to tell tbh* but from what I have read they didn't massively change anything levelling wise beyond removing the requirement to focus on your core skills to gain the best level up. From what I have read you gain x points per level now which can be distributed how you want. *I started, tinkered with settings and then spend too long just gawking at stuff checking the impact of said settings..
Yep. That's like me, I struggle to play games appreciating the art! So in the original I remember fighting wolves and the occasional bear (or w/e) then once I gained some levels and closed a few gates you'd have some monstrous demonic thing in the middle of a forest absolutely spank you. I was like "where wolves gone, me scared" Progression was not intuitive and I stopped playing. I hoped the new version would fix this
Completed Night in the Woods. What an odd little peek into someone's mind - not the storyline I was expecting. Reminds me a little bit of Hot Fuzz, but not. Currently playing Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 - brain popped-out for a bit fun.
ARC Raiders (Tech test 2). Enjoying it, but I suuuck with third-person shooters. No idea if it's having one eye or not, but I can't aim at all if it's not first-person
