If I were forced to pick only one game that I could play for the rest of my life, it would be the original Final Fantasy VII. It is quite possibly my favourite game of all time. So... if you are/were a fan of the original then I am, rather obviously, going to say that yes, you should most definitely pick them up But. Wait until they're on offer, because full price is silly money. And if you're really not in a hurry, give it a year or two until we're closer to "Part 3" being released: you won't have to wait quite as long for the final instalment. That's widely rumoured/believed to be 2027, but it hasn't been confirmed yet. It will definitely be a multi-platform title, like the last two have been, because Square Enix have already announced that it'll be coming to Switch 2. But I don't think there's been any indication so far that it will not be a timed exclusive for Playstation. The minigames and side-stuff are frustrating, yes, but the original game wasn't short of minigames and side quests either. It's still Final Fantasy VII with all its characters & personalities, updated with modern graphics and systems.
This is my default mode Good to know. I'll tag them to my long list for when offers pop up ta. Damn, just need a life NG+ to get through everything.
Given that I grew up in the Midlands during the 80s and 90s, a lot of th humour in this makes sense and I love it. Language options are cool too, with the options being English or "dialect" ie. Northern...
I still have to play this . Games have taken a back seat for a while though, been working on other stuff.
It is definitely in the casual bracket for gaming and ideal for a bit here and there. I finished it in about 3.5 hours total and I still have 4 or 5 hidden Steam achievements to get. I also found it pretty refreshing as your only commands are moving, jumping, and smacking, meaning that if you can't jump on it, smack it and see what happens and you'll bumble your way through most things almost by accident.
Sunk Cost Fallacy with Division 2 on PC. I had played the first one to death on both PS4 and PC and thought I could give the second a go as its "free" on GamePass. It looks and plays fine at 4K on my "Console" PC but its sooooooooooooooooo boring. Somehow it has managed to learn nothing from the first game and doubled down on the mundane monotonous mission structure and level design. Each mission plays out as go to the location, proceed until enemy waves are neutralised and carry on. Rinse repeat 2-3 times until you come against the "big bad" and mission complete. This somewhat worked in the first game as it was somewhat fresh (at least in terms of location, plot etc) but the second game is the first game but in a less interesting location (DC instead of NY), more cluttered and with more grindy crap. Even the Safe Houses are devoid of any life unlike the first game (there are now no vendors or civilians). I am still playing as I now am around 60% through the story and want to see it to the end.
I played it and enjoyed it, but never played the first one. I only played until the end of the story and dropped the game there. 3rd person just take me out of it very quickly. Right now I'm playing Cyberpunk 2077 and really enjoying it. A dystopian future where corporations run the world and governments are mere puppets... Oh wait. ****.
Finally started rouge trader, got the season pass n game for less than £20, its ok so far only done the starting zone, i like how they link and you can show more information about things if your new to the francise, wish id looked into what class to play as a little more is the only thing as my starting characters feel the same... and inwish combat was a tad faster... wish you could speed up enemy turns as it could be you vrs 10 others and watching 10 enemy turns is long winded
I've also started Disco Elysium. But somehow I don't get it. You just seem to (so far, at least) walk between locations, press tab to highlight things you can click on, click on them, then wait an hour whilst the guy wanders disinterestedly over to them to return some "information" that doesn't really (at this stage) seem of any use other than directing you to the next location where you repeat the same. And he takes far too long to do all this, so it's a bit dull. I'd heard so many good things about this game so I'm clearly missing something. Grateful for any advice here because the "rolling around on the floor mashing buttons like a prick" genre that @SuperHans123 is also a fan of is suddenly starting to engender wistful feelings.
I tried a few times to get into this game and couldnt, i am already board of RT, it just didnt grasp me, i think if i had played this before BG3 i would of enjoyed it but just feels slow. Going back to Robocop to try this again, got allot of games i want to replay now ive got my new pc... but i have choice choice paralysis.. and end up looking at my desktop n never do anything.
It's definitely a relatively slow paced game. For me, the writing in this game is what sets it apart. The main characters are incredibly well realised and have a huge depth to them. The story is an incredibly human one; the focus isn't weapons, or combat, or magic, or superpowers, or whatever. It is abundantly clear that the people behind the game have personal experience of addiction & substance abuse, it's not just a sterile surface-level portrayal that a committee of bland middle-class writers came up with in their nice cushy office/meeting room. If someone asked me to describe "games as art", Disco Elysium would be jostling for top position in my list of recommendations. But, it is definitely a slow-paced game, almost completely devoid of "action", and that isn't going to appeal to everyone PS, if you want to stick with it, you can make the character run instead of walking everywhere . Double-click instead of single-click, or press Caps Lock to invert the defaults (so now single-click to run and double-click to walk). I don't think it's as much of an issue on controllers...
I know that feeling, for sure. I took the time to stick all my games into a spreadsheet - sad as that sounds, it only takes a minute or two when I claim an Epic freebie or buy something (rare these days) and was mainly because I was buying games I didn't realise I already owned. Then I just chucked a random number generator at the top and see what game it tells me to play next.
Having played nothing at all for a few months, I have, after a years long hiatus, gone back to playing Skyrim (Special Edition).
I seem to chop and change quite frequently, been on some Division after my mate got me past a bit I was stuck on (no idea why, he didn't really do anything much differently to me - maybe it was the beer and pizza that made a difference), also been nailing (or bolting) Dawn of War 2 for a bit of fun and have just discovered Hidden Folks (which was free on Epic for a bit, might still be). Fk me, the sounds are hilarious. It seems the writers made all the chainsaw, beaver, bee and "people using Portaloo" noises themselves, using only their mouths and lips. It's essentially a trickier version of Where's Wally so is a good toilet or commuting game, but it don't 'alf make you (well, me) giggle.
This practice, for reference, has just saved me fifty quid or so this weekend alone. Which not only shows how sad/efficient I am, but also how voluminous my catalogue is and how little time I have to play anything (otherwise I'd remember owning it).
I'm currently replaying Infamous Second Son on PS4, first playthrough was 3 years ago on good karma this time I'm doing evil. Might go for the platinum too. Still trying to rack up the miles on Midnight Club LA alongside on PS3. Currently on 3k miles. 2k to go.
Just started on Rogue Trader. I do love the W40K lore, but the characters are already annoying me, and the mechanics and camera controls are a tad irritating. WIll give it some more time, but not hooked yet.
