OK, so I think that I have made some good headway into Starfield now and have a few thoughts on things: 1) the levelling system - broadly similar to things like Skyrim or Fallout but with a bit of a twist. You have general these of upgrade sections such as combat, ship building, and so on and you get an upgrade point for each level that you progress to. However, there is a bit of a twist in that you cannot go to some skills as they are not only level locked but also locked behind the number of points spent in previous tiers. And then there are the uses requirement for upgrading a skill such as to upgrade lock picking you need to successfully pick x amount of locks, or for pistols you need to kill x amount using pistols and so on, shouldn't be an issue if those are skill that you use often but it does focus specific routes somewhat, not quire so easy to make a jack of all trades build. 2) Ship building and upgrading is something that I still need to try and do more of, still trying to get my head around how to get all that set up and who to go to and where. 3) had a couple of quest bugs, one that was fixed with a quick restart but another that is stuck on killing all of an invading set of spacers, yet the last one(s) cannot be found. So far, still enjoying things, but there are a lot of things to keep in mind and work on whilst doing a lot of other things.
I started again at the weekend andi am really enjoying it. Although the amount of quests I currently have is overwhelming. But I've been doing a random side quest and blown away how fun it's been for a side quest. The ship stuff is fun. I've gone for a few ship builds, I don't go around with the human companions I just take the robot as he can carry so much more. I don't like the base building side feels like an afterthought and the car you get feels like the mass effect car and I feel it doesn't help when every 5m there is a big rock in the way.
Bought this during a Steam sale. Look forward to playing it. This is a game I'm definitely going to pick up, it's just a matter of how long I'm going to wait for price drops. If you keep saying positive things, that'll accelerate the process!
Returnal Picked up for 60% off in a Steam sale as it looked like the gameplay of Mass Effect Andromeda, which is a good thing in my book. Turns out it's much more of a bullet hell shooter (which to be fair, is as described on the store page). Basic premise is that you've crash landed on an odd planet in your little one man (or rather, woman) scout ship, and if you die, something returns you to life but back at the beginning, losing all your stuff. It's not grabbing me. Pretty enough, but the gameplay is punishing and although I've not played the particular genre as it doesn't appeal to me, I believe it's what's referred to as a "Souls like" game. I made it to the first boss, but messed up a few seconds from landing the killing blow and now can't get back anywhere near where I was, mainly because I used up an artifact that allows you to instantly revive from one death that I'll never get back. I wondered about getting a refund but have played it for more than two hours: it's not a bad game, it's just one that I wouldn't have bought if I'd known what I was getting in to. Which is my own damned fault as I think it has a free demo you can try. but I charged straight in regardless. Going to park it for now and try something else.
Had a good laugh yesterday... Winter noooo! I go by Winter in Arma 3 circles and yes that was me getting boop'd by a truck right at ENDEX Anyone looking for good Arma 3 shenanigans with an amazing, likely the largest LGBT unit on this planet, chuck me a private message
Been prepping for the Midnight launch on wow. Got slight mixed feelings as I've always been an Alliance player since beta and I've only ever played horde when my old man was around and we did a fun farther son blood elf bit, mainly a way for us to chat not so much play, and we spent hours in Sliver moon. When my dad past I never logged back in as I wanted the last place that character was to be next to my old man's toon. And it hit me this week that I'll be going to silver moon for the 1st time since he past as it's now the hub for the next expansion and it's made me have feelings I never thought a game would give me it's random I no. But I'm both anxious and excited to see Silver moon again.. am I odd.. ** Rather than a new post it looks like a re release of ffvii on steam the OG one has come out today, not sure what's new yet but it's free if you have the old one. The 2013 steam one and now a 2026 one soooo that means only one thing I get to play my favourite game again ! See what's made them re release it
Just started AC Shadows on PS5. Looks lovely but boy is it a slow drudge at the start. I still think I'm actually still in the start a couple of hours in, apparently there's a base or something that I've not even reached yet. I'll plod on, played all the AC games so far so onwards I go.
Yes it's slow to open up. There is basic base building but it's more premade buildings you slap down, and then later you unlock the other playable character l got so far but then ghost of yoti came out and never went back. I really need to go back to it as I enjoyed it. I went back to Valhalla as I got it cheap. I stopped thinking of them as assassin's creed games and more open world games. I've ordered crimson desert but I'm at caravan ATM n it will take 6 days to download
Started death stranding 2. It's just as confusing as the 1st imo for us out there story and it starts saying go to Mexico and now down under... It's as beautiful and as Barron as the 1st, but about 6 hours in and enjoying the mindless parcel delivery. Although they seam to have a bit more focus on combat this time round. I really want to try crimson desert. But it was £42 on the site I get my games from I'll wait till it's back down to that it's jumped to £53 and I just can't justify the price difference. I'm skeptical about the game this is when I wish demos existed
Well I'm now getting absorbed. After the initial slow start I'm getting some AC feels. Not even got the second character yet, got a bit too invested. I can see it could take a loooong time to amble around. Not complaining. E: Huh. After reading the odd bit online it seems I've been ploughing on focussing on my favourite weapon that hasn't really been available. As soon as the projects opened up I select the one that gave me a Po, had no idea before this you had to finish the game to get one. Glad it was, always been a fan of staff combat.
StarCraft. Not StarCraft 2, not even Brood War: I’m starting back at the OG StarCraft… I bought a starter set for the tabletop game recently, so… had to play the game again, didn’t I… I’ve not even finished the Terran campaign yet and god damn, there are so many quality of life features I miss from SC2… Like assigning multiple SCVs to a construction, being able to set the rally point for SCVs to a mineral field so they mine automatically when built, or being able to see a unit’s order queue… I’d even settle for some of the Brood War additions, medics alone would be bloody useful right now… But it’s a serious trip down memory lane, that’s for sure. I haven’t got to the best race yet, sadly Protoss are the last campaign in OG StarCraft. I’m very impressed that Battle.net works on Linux flawlessly via Heroic Games Launcher, I’d written off the idea of being able to run Battle.net games altogether. Oh they do exist. If the developer/publisher chooses to release one…
Anyone having a go at the new Seven Deadly Sins? Not keen on gacha F2P but WWM gave me some hope that they weren't all bad!
Picked up The Last Spell for £1.99 I think it was, turn based rogue like(I think?). Enjoying it so far and already got good value having played for probably 10 hours or so, but I can see how it could potentially get a bit grindy depending how much you need to play to unlock more options and items etc so hopefully it gets the balance right for me.
Crimson Desert Ok where do I start.. the game is a sandbox adventure, don't buy for a story there isn't one. But omg the controls remind me of the old wing tie games, there should be a button for everything. I'm about 20 hours in and not left the starting zone.. every NPC you have a reputation with. You can pick up almost any creature. Pet dogs and cats feed them.. it's just wild.. The combat is just crazy.. it visually looks good but I've not even hit the tip of what I think it's going to offer. One minute your fighting 40 people at once to choak slam one dude roll over drop kick another roll over another and stab them with a sword. You can invest your money into a bank.. you have to pay taxes you can mine you can chop trees down. This game is very much a trick of all trades a master of none but my god I am enjoying it Apparently later there are crazy mounts including a dragon. A mech I walked for over an hour real time I game and I'm about 1 5th of the way across of the map. This game is just bat **** crazy and I mean in a good way... I have missed loads of stuff I've done but despite all the haters and poor reviews I can see me sinking 1000s of hours in this. The only other game I can think of like this is just cause! It's pure jank and I love it
I tried playing X4... bounced off it hard and am back to my comfort game... which is mostly Star Trek Online
I just didn't get on with it... think it was a combo of bugs and the feeling like i was getting naff all done in game... But that' probably a me thing, try it and judge for yourself.
Well its a week later on Crimson Desert and I don't feel like I've even started the game... Apparently the main story is only 25 hours long I think I've done 4 main quests every thing else has been side quests or exploring, the patches since launch has helped performance and quality of life. I will say the further I get into the game the more unlocks and the more overwhelmed I feel. Gone from about 4 quests available to about 30..it's getting wild, it's still one of those games where it feels like you need more buttons for the controls. It's one of those the more I play the more I love but also the more my anxiety kicks in on what to do next or where to go so I've played 4 hours today time for a break.
