Cool, I've got FFXV waiting for me to have time to play it (got some serious deadlines approaching) which if I've any luck at all will be around Christmastime.

I still think that Disgaea 2 (when released on Steam in the new year) will become a time-sink again - like all of the Disgaea games are for me...

No doubt, love Disgaea games. Check out Phantom Brave if you haven't already, it's not a Disgaea game but a similar Tactical game by NIS as well, with a really good story.

I've just got Ori & the Blind Forest and really like it. Only played an hour or so, so far, but it seems a lot like a platforming version of a Zelda game, but with a skill tree, and the atmosphere created by the visuals, the sound design and the music is wonderful.

Yep, I'm waiting until it's on sale though, as I've got enough to do right now and don't need a time-sink distraction. A game I can sink 20 hours into over the space of two or three weeks is OK, but NIS games end up being multiple-thousand-hour affairs.

Honestly, it was one of the things I most loved about my PS Vita: Disgaea 3 and 4, with 'pick up and play'. So a quick snatched five minutes was OK (or an hour on the train...) while things on PC/console take a time investment over and above those of a handheld. :(

Watch Dogs 2 & Civ VI.

Found a catastrophic bug on Huge map with Civ VI that crashes me to desktop during China's AI move after nearly 300 turns. Not so happy about that.

WD II is very good though. Lots of fun. Control system is a confusing shitheap but still lots of fun.

    Just Cause 3
Thought I'd give this another whirl as I upgraded my PC not too long ago and previously the performance was abysmal. Running much smoother with the new parts, the lack of any stuttering is making the experience much more enjoyable.

    PS4:
    Final Fantasy XV
Having an absolute blast with this iteration of the series.
I had really high expectations with this game when it was announced and with all of the delays, but it definitely hasn't let me down with the amount of time I'll get out of it. As soon as I started playing, I immediately went to a location that I shouldn't have been exploring when I visited one of the dungeons and quickly came face to face with the boss (I was level 4 and the boss was level 52). Some of the visuals are stunning, there's a few low-res textures here and there but then you see something amazing and simply forget all about the lesser bits.

I've been quite enjoying playing with the PS4's "Shared Play" feature with one of my friends who doesn't own the game, it's the first game I've tried it with and it's fairly cool that you can let your friend take over and play the game for a bit while you just chat with them over VOIP... makes for a nice way to do demos of games.

Seem to be playing a lot more on my PS4 these days, I think I might look at getting a Steam Link at some point so that I can play my PC collection in a similar way.

    PS4 - Diablo 3
Switched over to playing Diablo for most of the weekend as I needed something that didn't require any thinking after a hectic week.

Ended up picking the Witch Doctor to play with, which I think needs some serious re-balancing... initially I started out on the lower difficulty setting, after 2 minutes upped it one step and then after 30 minutes of that kicked it up to the highest I could go because I found myself not having to do anything beyond walking around.

With all of the minions that the Witch Doctor summons, nothing can get near enough to you to do any real damage. On top of that most of the gear I've picked up heals per hit & kill so my army of creatures are mowing down the mobs and keeping me topped up at full health.

    PS4 - Final Fantasy XV
So far my party is level 12 and I've just started Chapter 2, taking the story really slowly wish all of the exploring and treasure hunting that I'm doing. Having the wait timer turned on for combat is a must for me, I prefer the more tactical approach to combat where you pause to look at an enemy's defences and then put together a battle plan.

Getting quite fond of the system for creating magic as well, it's quite a good system where you're magic is limited to recharging each element and then mixing them together to increase potency or morph them into a higher tier spell. I quite often find myself mixing the spells with a potion to make it a healcast spell (heals you while damaging enemies around you).

I think I'm finding it more fun to go out into the wilderness at night as well, the mild sense of danger of high level enemies spawning around me makes it more enjoyable as it can be a bit barren of anything to do as you walk across the map.

    Witcher 2
Continuing my love of trilogies recently after Mass Effect. First Witcher has been dispatched (which I loved but rushed a bit through Episode 5 as felt a bit jaded of it by then) so onto the second.

First impressions are it's stunning and highly immersive. Playing the first helps with the lore and I'm getting a little better at the combat. It feels so much more alive than other games like Skyrim, with a little village absolutely teeming with life. The tavern bustles and I can feel safety of the town walls from what lurks outside. Very impressed so far.

    Far Cry 4

Well, Far Cry 4, despite not grabbing me for some reason, still has its moments. I rescued a hostage, only to watch him mauled to death by a pack of dogs not two minutes later (no karma loss, so hey ho) and I'm pretty sure I saw an eagle fly off with a pig.

Really don't know why I don't find it better than 'okay'. I think it's for the same reason I can't get into Fallout 4- I've already played Fallout/Far Cry 3 and it's more of the same. I'll still complete it, but I'm treating it as a game to play between games I'm more interested in.

Struggling to finish Dishonored 2 I am at the final level, I think, and decide that I really am bored with this game. I do not think it is a patch on the original which is a shame.

    Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare:
This has not grabbed me at all and I return to it every couple of days but it seems that you get short spells of fighting between long spells of FMV if that is the correct set of initials.

Finished DH2, TF2 and couldn't get into BF1 at all so have moved on (back) to:

    PS4

FFXV - Only a few hours in but enjoying it so far. I hate the look of the characters (I prefer to create my own) but like the banter. Will mainly focus on the main story line and then move on (got it for £6 after trading in BF1).

Division - Survival mode looks decent and I have the season pass so may as well play it. The recent 1.4 and 1.5 patches reinvigorated the game but I got bored very quickly of re-doing the same thing (I think it is the overall setting and lack of diversity as I don't have this issue in other "grindy" games).

Destiny - The Dawning event has just gone live bringing back Sparrow racing and three original strikes (reworked). SRL is good fun and the strikes changes certainly make for a challenge. Not going to be grinding too much but want Icebreaker (my first ever exotic back in Sep/Oct 2014).

Neverwinter - The grind to level 70 continues. Currently level 65 with a lot of XP to go. Will be interesting to see what Christmas event they have going. Halloween was awesome (considering the game is free).

Elder Scrolls Online - Carrying on the grind albeit at a much more relaxed pace compared to NW. Looks lovely in 4K mode on my Pro.

    PC

Skyrim - I have the re-mastered version hooked up to my 4K TV (playing with an Xbox Elite controller). Performance is interesting, maxed out I am seeing between 45 and 60 FPS. I think my expectations were too high as I was hoping for a locked 60. The game does look nice and runs fine for the most part.

Once I have ploughed through the above (so mid 2017... :p) I plan to have another go at Witcher 3 on the Xbone.

It's heart-breaking when you can get an awesome player to agree terms with your shitty club but then the move gets blocked by the WP *******s. You've got my feels.

Bit of everything really, not gamed this much in years.

    Battlefield : Hardline.

Got it for £3.99 on CDkeys last night. It's OK I guess, bit "meh". I have had my cash out of it already though tbh.

    Mirror's Edge Catalyst.

I need to be in the mood for this but am about 60% through the main story.

    Mafia III.

Got it for a tenner off of here (thanks Andy). Good game, bit samey though.

    Dead Island Definitive.

Really can't put this down. Playing through with a chum and finding the hidden dev weapons.

    Borderlands : The Pre Sequel.

I bought this at launch and my wife and I played through about three hours and then she didn't want to play any more. Can't say I blame her much, it starts out a bit crap. Any way, my chum out in the USA bought it today for $5 and we are about three hours in. We are further than I was before and it's getting better. Still not a patch on BL2 though but hey, it's not all bad.

    Forza something.

The free one on Windows Store. Did four races earlier, looks lovely but need more ram to be able to max it out. Getting a steady 60 FPS (Fury X and 8 core Xeon). Decent enough, though I don't get the same sensation of speed as I did in say Dirt 2.

Mass Effect 3 - SPOIL NOTHING FOR ME!

Resurrected an old save for ME1, finished it up, re-ran ME2 in a few days, then straight into ME3 (for the first time!) which I've been taking my time with.

I hated it initially, my shep felt like he moved weird and his limbs were too scrawny but I've got armor on now and I'm used to it. Some of the levels and story elements in the this third game have been bloody amazing! I'll give a full break down of all 3 in the "completed" thread once I'm finished up.

I'm nervous of finishing it up, i don't want a ME void. It was nice putting off 3 knowing I always had more shep story when I wanted it.....!

loved ME series, one thing i didn't like was the constant dumbing down of the RPG elements and how all the choices you made make no difference, not to mention the obvious complaint about ME3...

and this is why i'm really excited about Cyberpunk 2077, if they get the combat right it'll be one of the best games ever made :D
