I didn't make out to bad this year as Santa (the folks) brought me the following:
    iPaq 1935 :)
long sleeve Orange County Choppers t-shirt
"The Art of Choppers" book which highlights a bunch of custom bike builders.
    a couple of dress shirts
    2 pairs of sweat pants
    bunch of candy
    a couple of DVDs

My brother also got me a blender, toaster, iron, electric can opener. Not real exciting gifts to some but less kitchen stuff I have to get when I buy a house this summer.

I used to have XM Radio until last fall when my receiver died and couldn't afford a new one. I actually like this system better because it has more sports and news than XM and I also found out that Sirius has signed a deal with the NFL to broadcast all the NFL games next year over Sirius!

Sirius has 100 broadcast streams (and simulcasts over the net) with 60 100% commercial-free radio and 40 sports, news & entertainment streams. I got it all hooked up in my car yesterday and was able to listen to the same stream from my house to my brother's house (in Albany - 200 miles east) and down to Elmira this morning (300 miles south/west). Gotta love that!

Anyone wants to check it out, here's a channel listing

Oh, I also got a few new shirts, a new Steelers 3/4 length winter jacket, a cool paperweight from my kids and blank dvd's...

It's more fun to watch your kids open presents though. My boys were going nuts with all the games for their xBox and GBA I bought them. :D

XM has something like 70 music streams, 30 news / sports / talk / etc streams or something like that. The one thing that XM has that I wish Sirius had is Radio Classics where they broadcast shows such as Abbott & Costello, The Shadow and classic SciFi like War of the Worlds. However, Sirius has the NFL, NPR and others.

Uh, well, I don't think you can get it over there. It's kind of like normal radio, but much better. For this system (Sirius) there are 3 satellites in a figure-8 orbit above the northern mid-west of the US (Minnesota / Iowa area) which broadcasts a digital signal to the receiver very much like satellite TV. For XM Radio, there are 2 satellites, one above the East Coast and the other above the West Coast of the US.

You have satellite tv in the UK (DirecTV, Dish Network or similar), right ? Are there music channels on it that doesn't have video - just the audio? If you do, it's very much like that.

Essentially what I can do is to hop in my car in NY, put it on a channel - say chan 23 (Big Rock) - and I can drive to California without having to switch the station. All the music stations are commercial free, they do have a dj, but they're not on too often, once in a while there will be a station ID, but other than that it's commercial free. They don't do what normal FM stations do and play the same songs over and over and over again and they don't stick to the "popular" stuff either. You can think of it as Internet Radio on steroids. You get to listen to pretty much anything you want to, no commercials, no hype, just music and all the time.

I think its like the uk's DAB setup - lots of stations broadcasting on a digital network - http://www.radio-now.co.uk/ - that might help more :)

Looks similar. But it appears that system is terrestrial based and commercial so it has a limited range like FM and loaded with commercials. Sirius and XM are sattelite based so I can listen to the same thing all across North America (I believe) plus there are no commercials.
