I just registered up here, because I felt the need to find something to do while in school. So does anyone play?

Why would I want to play a game that is really just a waist of time? Spend an exuberant amount of time leveling a character up to the highest level, run the same dungeons over and over again get ubar gear/equipment, get bored with the character, rinse repeat? ..

Now don't get me wrong, I have played DAOC (which is essentially the same thing) and it just became the same thing day after day. Going on the same raids day in day out, being pretty much limited in what you could do.

Check out Eve Online imo... SO much better.

Ex Wow player here.. only took away 6 months of my life so not as bad as a lot of other people.. i got 60 reasonably casually, then eventually realised what a waste of time it was for the little "fun" i was getting in return.

I've tried quite a few MMOs though and i would still say its the best by far, but you really get annoyed when you think what you could have done in those months in your life.. :wallbash:

Level 70 female human mage on Jaedenar. Sometimes I wish I rolled undead because they look so much better as mages. :/

    Started to play......

Yes this game is addictive but like everything in "real life" if you apply a certain degree of sense e.g. limit your time playing and make time out of game for friends, family and other hobbies, sports, pastimes it can only be a good thing ....this game is great!

If you play and let it to consurme more and more of your time then this is bad..

My wife and I both play, but in moderation. It helps relax us after a crappy day at work (of which I have less and less). But, we monitor each other to keep it within reason.

I play WoW, but lately I have started losing interest in logging in more and more. I don't hate the game or think it's crap, but City of Heroes/Villains seems more appealing the more I look at it. No need for a raid, the task force is completely optional (I can always Solo exp if I want to), and no need to "gear" up outside of getting nifty enhancements for my powers.

I've just grown sick of the constant cycle of Raid --> Gear --> Raid --> More Gear --> New Raid --> Just more gear. Tried to PvP but it's no different to me, same stuff over and over just for more gear, that will be phased out in months when the new dungeon/PvP Set is released.

Glad you're part of the 10% of people who play WoW who can do that :p

I'm working very hard to keep WoW from getting into my brother's hands. When it came in his SWG pack, I snuck in his room and stole it and destroyed the CD. Knowing him, he'll get hooked and fall even more into his outcastness he's put himself in.
The day he got SWG, he played it for 3 days straight until my mother found out about it, he was lvl 35 already.

I honestly don't get how you can play a game and go up so fast. I play Space Cowboy online (hey, it's fun :p) and I've been playing for 3 weeks and only lvl 20... My bro is lvl 46 already, and has 3 other characters. Makes me wonder just what he does when he gets home...

Maybe you just need to find out why he needs these games to occupy his time and then do something a bit more than destroy his games ? ;)

I play wow a fair amount but will go out if there is another option, but if your doing nothing better then nobody can fault you for playing alot - its a fun and immersive game.

He doesn't want to do anything other then play MMOs, I tried suggesting football, soccer, tennis, biking, movies, anything.. but nope. He wants to play MMOs.. Quite depressing.
    Oh well.

    I don't get what WoW's attraction is

Technically theres nothing wrong with that, just because he isnt talking in person doesnt mean he isnt socialising, you just tend to take on differant personas online which can be detremental to irl conversation.
