OK, a lot of us seem to be putting tons of time into designing and producing the most Kick@$$ case/monitor/keyboard/etc. mod we can come up with. Then we finish it (Well, not me, yet...) set it up, turn it on and marvel at our own greatness. But what the heck is it sitting on? Ive seen a lot of pics of truly mind blowing mods and they are just sitting there on some POS desk. Has anyone modded their desk to go along with their comp? If so could you post some pics of it? I would LOVE to see a "Whole Concept" mod from the comp itself to the surrounding work/play area. Just wondering.
Someone in the post pics of your room/desk thread in GD posted an image of a desk which had UV light under the glass surface ... looked pretty l337...
wow, what a concept! this is the first time i have seen a mention of this in my year of modding!! looks like ill be shopping for more than water cooling components this weekend!
for a while i had it on just a small one sided desk: Then went me and my dad "upgraded" my desk to a corner desk: The corner desk is much nicer, and much bigger.... now i just gotta wait till my new comp parts come to put 2gether my puter and put it on the desk... (ill post pics when the puter is on the desk when it gets done) As you can see.... this was a true "do it yourself" job... Held up by 2 drawer things that my dad got out of his warehouse somewhere at his business: The desk is a 3 peice set (2 sides and a corner), held together by (you guessed it!) pieces of wood! - damn im good! We also made supports along the wall and such, which hold the desk up just fine! works great, and looks good to boot! Thats my desk... from old to new!
lol! heres mine bought a desk for the pc basically. NM about modding desks, how about modding my camera to take decent pics
Got my whole system in one of them thar veneered "computer armoirs". Whole thing closes up and looks like a fine piece of furniture---the wife liked it so it would hide all my computer books etc. and "blend in" with the rest of the house. But now you've got me thinking....red rotating alarm lights, blacklit interior, etc.. Hmmmmm....gotta do somethin' 'bout the wife....maybe an extended vacation to her mother's....
hey feeble, nice poster on your wall, who is that? ive modded my desk by stripping all the 'wood' off the dges with a swiss army knife. or did i ust do that through utter boredom? you decide!
i think its J-Lo.... though not sure... blurry picture.... my desk is one of the standard uni ones... and my desk at home was bought for a different computer and my new one won't fit.... i was thinking about getting something along the lines of this eventually: but at close to $1000.... thats a purchase for the future.... maybe I'll build something like it for about 1/1o the price over the summer (what the hell.... why not take modding to a new level.... forget custom case.... custom desk...)
I have a custom built desk in my room. It takes up two of my walls. I have two computers and my tv on it. I also have one of those armoirs out in my living room with another PC in it.
The reply about the UV light under the desk would be my desk. Pic below. The desk is made out of 2x4s found at a local construction site, and about 6 quarter inch plate glass sheets found in the trash at father's work. The desk is massive 8 feet long, supporting 2 monitors and tons of other papers. The light is just your normal UV light, Piccie: -Iamgoodyy
i have 2 of my machines sitting on a 100+ year old antique end table that needs to be refinished at some point its not a highly modded desk, but its still cool
cderalow, if you get one you absolutely will not be disappointed. I've had my anthro carts for four or five years now and they are every bit as good as the site claims. I have the tilt monitor cart and I can't imagine a better desk. My case is sitting in a "sidecar" that is adjustable height mounted secutely to the right frame member of the desk, my CD and CD-R drives are right at my fingertips. The monitor shelf is recessed and tiltable, which doesn't show at all in the pic. It's plenty big to hold my 20" monitor, which is out of service at the moment. I can extend the frame upward with extensions and mount shelves above if I need, but I have a 4 foot Anthro Cart beside this, so I don't need to. Yes I know I need a black keyboard (and scanner and mouse) and there's mods planned for all of them. That's my trusty IBM model M keyboard, vintage 1989, and I will not use a modern keyboard. The other little beige dingus on my desk is my SmartMedia reader.
i'm not going to spend the $1000 on the model i want.... i've started making plans to build my own... probably cost me around $200 to do it myself... which means $800 to put a new server together (or get a new case to mod)... my plans are along the same lines as the Anthro console cart, but I'm going to make mine a bit different... mainly the shelf layout (going to ditch the keyboard tray... maybe... haven't decided yet)... but anyway.... off to mod! (i've got free time and tools around... so why waste them?... side note... Dupli-Color Vinyl & Fabric Color.... $3.99 a can at Advance Auto Parts... guess what I'm doing today?
