This is just cheap. It blatent corperate s*** yet again from monpolising companies, it just shows that they don't give 2 s***s about the music just about the cash.

I think this will give all those 'White Hat' hackers an excuse to do something ethical, as well as protestors, anti-capitalists, public bycotts, this is not only war, it is suicde.

This kinda thing really annoys me. As acrimonious said, they only care about the cash. I download music, then if it's any good I buy the CD because more often than not I want the CD so i can record it to MD, and I do actually like having the CD anyway!

But certainly, the above news of software that screws your PC is double standards through and through.

Surely if they do release these viruses, anti virus software will be able to deal with it soon after?
I imagine if that does happen the RIAA won't be to pleased and will will start throwing law suits at anti-virus companys :/

some private people will most likely create program that will be like specialized antiviruses to block out the RIAA viruses. Just like there are millions of ways to kill the messesnger service from sending ads to you.

I know you can set up a proxy for your internet explorer (I do this at school to bypass the school's filters) Is there a way to mask your IP from the outside world? Then wouldnt that make you invisible to the RIAA's attempts to get your IP and track you down.

Hmmm..... seems to me the RIAA should stop their bitching and stop spending money on anti piracy garabe and do something like what Apple has done. I would sign up if the price was right and high bitrate MP3's were made available. And not just of mainstream srtists and boy bands that they wanna build up.

but if this antipiracy BS goes through. I'll put me and my dad's entire CD collection up for download.

Delete that last comment if you guys dont like it, sorry

I agree with you, if a new artist comes around, instead of takin the plunge and buying their CD i'll download a couple of tracks, maybe even the whole album; but an MP3 is nothin in comparison with owning the CD... If it's good i'll buy it, if not - it's the companies loss. This new Anti-piracy software is BS to most people - it'll probably start when you try and RIP mp3's from the audio CD that you've bought. :eyebrow: It's not a corporate move, it's suicidal insanity - people are going to start buying less cd's for fear of playing them in their PC and getting virused. This is one big fat, corporate screw up if you ask me, a money grabbing move made by a committee in a board-room

has the RIAA already made some programs that make mac users not able to eject their music cd out ?

overall I thhink RIAA should be beaten up...what a stupid idea...

yeah I think you're quite right it's more like a "virus"

Do we have bit tech heavys or even *shudder* lawyers that can be either sent in or asked about this?

and i agree it is suicidal tho i dont like most of the music these days any way

oh another thing that really grates is the cds you cant play n a pc now . . . i use my pc as a cd played + a dvd player damn it and this just makes me not want to buy disks

They need to take a lesson from Madonna's **** up. I don't think they really understand the sheer power that is out in the community and will be turned directly on them should they do something this stupid.
