OK the problem i got is when I soldered my resistor's to my LED's project and then i light up the led using a 12v (this project requires a 12v) the solder itself starts to melt then eventually parts from the led pin therefore I got to resolder the stuff together. It seems that it is getting too hot, is this normal, what should I do? I was thinking adding vent's then a small fan just to keep the solder from overheating then falling off. Would like to hear what you guys think

it shouldnt be getting that hot. you either have a shory or you are using a very lo voltage led and the resistor is dissipating too much heat, try putting the led on 5v line with a smaller resistor.

It doesn't sound like you're using solder. The standard 60/40 stuff melts at about 600F. Your LED still works?

if I put on a 5V my resistors would be all wrong...I would have to buy new ones, I have used the suggested sizes from linears calculator
