Hey guys im new here, well i've been browsing the forums for a while but never posted until now.
So i recently got a Nikon D40x as i've been quite interested in starting photography. I love the camera, small and lightweight and loads of features. Got a Nikon bag with it which came with a little begginners guide to photography which is very useful and im learning quite a lot from it.
I just got back from my trip back home (Belgium) and thought I would share with you some of the photos I took whilst i was there.

Some really nice photos, I love the one in the garden with the ladybird on the leaf, and the last one, with all those trees.

    p.s. Welcome!

    Just the same as me!

I think in picture 2 you lack a focal point and in three there is lack of colour contrast.

But in all I think its a good start, been planning to get a dSLR for a while now but other things take preference over it right now...

That's a good point about 3 - I hope the OP doesn't mind, but I had a fiddle in PS, and I think it looks a lot better, but still a bit washed out.

Again, if the OP, or anyone else has a problem, I'll take it down immediately.

I thought seen as im just starting out with DSLR photography i'll get used to using the camera and using different features before i start messing around in PS.

Krikkit : yes that looks much better

I'm not sure about the edited version of that picture. Looks a bit over bright and fake to me... But I'm no expert.

    Love the ladybird :D

Well the problem is I had to overly brighten the picture using the levels in PS.

I like the ladybird one and the last one too, though I did think there was a lot of dead space around the bug. So I took the liberty of a simple crop + border. I think it looks even nicer:

Yeah I like the first and last too.
I think Tomm hit the nail with the first though, smaller crop looks much better.
