Just want to make sure that I'm not making a big mistake before picking up an R1800. I'm a fan of epson and have been impressed with both the R300 and the R800 so I've not looked too much into other makes (should I?). I'd like the R1800 over the 1290 due to the supposed longevity of the prints - as far as I'm aware there aren't really any other tangible benefits, other than it looking a bit prettier :p

I've also had a peek at the R2400 as I plan on doing a bit of work in B&W but I'm wondering if that sacrifices quality on colour reproduction for the extra grey cartridges? (which I wouldn't be happy with, and even if it doesn't I can't decide if its worth the extra, how is the R1800 at B&W?) The matte printing on the r2400 is also a nice bonus.

So... to Pookey and others, any advice before I pick one up? (whichever one it may be)

The 2400 is a fantastic printer. B&W is MASSIVELY improved over the 1800. COlour is not really any different that I can tell, so it's a win win situation.. except for price of course, but I think it;s worth every penny! Get the 2400. You wont regret it.

There is one caveat here... dont just rip open the box, plug it in and expect decent results. The K3 ultrachrome pigment inks are fussy about being sent to teh right colourspace. Download the ICCs from here and read my sticky in this forum on how to print properly. Follow that word for word, and you'll be blown away by the 2400.
