1. How many volts does a 9V battery output? Ok now that I've confused you I was just asking because I know that batteries don't output the same voltage as advertised because of internal resistance and stuff. At least that's what I thought. 2. If I plugged a 12v fan to two 9v batteries in series what would happen? 3. If the above is not possible how would I go about reducing the 18 volts to 12 volts? 4. Or what would happen if I plugged two fans in series to two 9v batteries in series? Would each fan have the same share of voltage and what voltage(s) would they receive?
1. The voltage drop is more or less minute, but I don't have a fresh 9v on me to test 2. Bye bye fan. 18v will probably kill it. 3. You could either use a voltage regulator (like so) or a beefy resistor (wouldn't be surprised if a 1 watter was needed). 4. Reduced RPMs. If both fans are the same, then they'll each get 9v.
