"A/UX is Apple Computer's implementation of the Unix operating system for some of their Macintosh computers"
It's probably just a nonexistent sensor giving whatever reading it feels like. In general, if your computer isn't crashing you aren't having overheating problems. You'll almost always get stability issues long before anything is permanently damaged, especially since most modern stuff will throttle itself to prevent thermal damage.
Aux is the bit that heats up the magic smoke inside the chips up to operating temp. Cold smoke is just sluggish. We know this to be true. (See: crazybob's post)
Seems to me it all is a bit off. Your core temperatures are listed as 25C but your overall CPU temperature is 30C. The system and HDD temperature seem about right. I would ignore the AUX listing.
it *could* be mosfets for the Vcore power supply, as mosfets can be rated up to 125C(not a good thing to be running them there though), or it could be an error, like others have said.
Speedfan's 3rd temp reading is always a ltitle weird for me too... normally in the 70-80 range. Have no clue what it's monitoring, my CPU's is normally around 30-40, and system around 20-30.
You see that button that says "Configure"? Use it. Speedfan only makes a guess at what sensors your system has, it doesn't always get it right.
thanks everyone, i was just like wow omg, new record.... crap somethings hot in there! 7900GT, e6600, p5b (for burnout) btw, cpemma, whats icebox?
I got the idea from air-conditioning - it balances out the heat equation; plus it's handy for the Chardonnay.
