Greetings. I ran to a problem, I finally got around ripping and organizing my whole cd collection into HDD last summer. I did this with iTunes, as I'm stuck with the program anyways because I have iPhone. Woe me for ever running into this abysmal POS of software, but that's a story for another time. I had to reinstall my OS after I got a new boot drive, and it seems my music collection is all fu*ked up. It shows up allright in explorer, and all the cover art and album info shows up correctly in Windows Media Player, but iTunes and my PS3 is shows them all wonked with songs in wrong albums, cover arts and random songs missing all together. (Having a console is another sin besides getting an apple product, but they didn't port God of War III to PC so I had to give in). Is there any user friendly (I'm old, and have a kid, I'm too tired for any fancy command line stuff ) software for embedding album info and organizing music library any of you could recommend?
I use a combination of The GodFather to organise filenames and folders and MP3Tag to sort out tags and embedded art.
I use Tag 'n' Rename by Softpointer to organise files and sort out cover art. As for a music player then you can't do much better than J.River Media Center (it's not free though!). As for iTunes, I have it on the Mac. I use it for buying music (as well as synching my iPhone) as I like the iTunes store, but then I port it all over to the network drive and play the music using Media Center (as mentioned above) on the PC.
MediaMonkey all the way... Paid for and free versions, been using it for years now, absolutely the best. One piece of software will do everything you need and it has huge community support for plugins etc.
If your using win7, explorer is all you need really. It allows you to edit all the ID3 tags of the selected track(s) at the bottom of the window.
