Hello, Last night i turned off my pc like i normally do. this morning, I turned it on, it started, screen stayed blank and thats it. The power button on the screen was also flashing so it wasn't getting a signal. I reset the pc, it reset, and then turned off. It would not turn back on. I unplugged it, waited, pluged it back in. hit the power, and nothing. it would not start.
Opened it up, saw a little dust, nothing major. Unplugged it again, waited longer. PLugged it back in and turned it on. It started, screen was still blank. I went looking for loose connections on the monitor, then i could hear the hard drive being used.
Eventually I heard the windows start up sound, and then just like that I had the windows desktop on my previousley blank screen.

    System:
    Asus p5k dlx
    Corsair 620
    ATI 1950 pro
    2 ide hdd's
    sound blaster audigy
    Q6600

The only thing that I have done in a while was a bios flash but that was almost a week ago.
I dont know why I had the blank screen, all connections were tight, I dont know why the system would not turn on.
    Any thoughts, advice?

You could try re-seating your 1950 pro and test your PSU.

how does one test a psu? you mean swapping it out for another unit? I would but I dont have another.
As for the 1950, I will reseat it if it does it again.

You can buy a tester for around $20 US (better ones with LCD display are around $30)or take the PSU into your local computer shop, most small shops will test it for free.A bad PSU can damage your system so never put a suspected bad PSU into another computer to test it!

I had a bsod a little while ago. Not sure why, it was a windows file that showed up. cant remember which one. odd thing is that I lost all my bios settings. had to put them all in again.

You could try a new MB battery then clear CMOS and reflash BIOS.

after getting countless errors in windows (not bsod, but critical errors that shut the maching off after 60 seconds), I checked my bios closely and found wrong timings for my ram. so far the system has had no problems since i fixed it.
