There's a new Action Cam and I got my hands on an engineering unit for a day and tested it against the Hero 3 Black Edition of which I've also done a review of in the past. The professional X-AVCS Codec seems to resolve much more detail from what I've seen of it personally and I'll be equally excited to see the final mass production unit.

Yea but what can you edit the codec in Dan? Only Sony software (as they used to do)? The "long" profile isn't great for some mountings too: like 'central' ones on the body/head.

According to the XAVC spec, the footage is editable in other s/w - so CS6, Avid, Final Cut, Sony Vegas, etc...

it's basically maxing out the H.264/MPEG-4 AVC spec with either AAC or LPCM for the audio.

Pretty much any of the major editing software suites will accept X-ACVS :)
