I've got a Sony DRU500a DVD writer and for some reason i can't write DVDs any more. I've recently upgraded my mother board to a abit KX7333, i used to own a KR7A-raid and now it doesn't want to do any DVD burning now i've got new mobo. Why could this be im using the latest version of Nero and i've upgraded the firmware on the drive but still nero seems to crash when i go to burn a dvd or it just freezes.

    Any help would be nice

    thanks

Have you updated Nero recently? If so that might be your problem.

This is a shoot in the dark. Did you install the IDE drivers for your board? If you so you might try going back to the original MS drivers.

Are you still using the same intall of windows from before you changed motherboards? I have run into very few instances where this did not cause a problem.

Double check all cables, power and ide. Make sure cable ends are correctly orientated and that no ide pins on the motherboard socket are damaged.
Changing a motherboard can confuse windows, may need a reinstall but leave that option till last.
Does dvd show up anywhere in windows > control panel > system?
