Why do you hate us so much Sony? Is it because of George Michael?

According to this ;) they won't take away our PSP's, but if you follow the link on that page it also says:

Why do they want our details? Will we be blacklisted in someway? And what if you ordered it from across the pond, will our details be given as well? The most important question is still Why?

I don't understand why they have a problem - the imports are bought fair and square.
Can it really be because they'll (as ever) be charging us more?

well i can see their point, you need an account with sony to sell sony. the account will include things like "dont sell before release dates" and so on.

but this is silly as sony havnt lost any money from it. infact its sold well here and prob made them a little.

I bet the main reason that Sony are being such dicks about it is because they think that they won't get the amount of impact at the official UK launch that they want, or would get with a "new" console. They won't be able to spin up so much hype if lots of us have had one for ages, or at least played with one.

Tough **** Sony, you forfeited that when you decided to have the different continental release dates so far apart.

Doesn't the Data Protection act stop them from getting peoples Names and addys?
Or doesn't that quite cover it?

I think you have to give permission to anyone supplying confidential information about yourself to another party. I certainly have had to do this in the past month.

My thoughts exactly. I'm sure what they are asking for is illegal.

That and it's completely stupid. If they actually put some more money into producing the console, or designed it easier to build, then people wouldn't need to import them. 9 months after the JAP release is taking the piss.

I don't think by law SONY can impound anything because importing goods from other countries is perfectly legal in the UK, and a firm trying to stop someones rights to something is illegal.

Like most people think, its probably because they want to charge higher prices.

This is just silly rumors and gosip. Sony cant get any info off importers about their customers. This is ilegal and protected by the Data Protection act which Sony will know and wouldnt waste time telling a paper about it.

They can not take your PSP off you as well as it is not illegal to import products from another country as for one you have paid your tax on it. If they took them off you it would be theft.

Sony of the UK are upset people are importing them because when they release them here the sales will be efected and wont be as impressive as Sony of the UK has its own targets. Sony of Japan dont care as there sales are up.

Sony of the UK and Jap are 2 companies in reality not one. They both have there own targets etc.

I blame Sony of The UK as they will have only a limited number of units ready for release so it will be out of stock just like the PS2 etc. Its to get demand up and people wanting it more because they cant get it.

If they released more than they could sell sales will be low as theres no rush to get one, you can get it anyday and not rush and get it on day of release.

Because they limit it people rush to get it on day of release because you dont know when it will be in stock and could be waiting a long time.

The realse dates are so far apart because sony didnt aquire the PSP trademark in the UK so if it released it it would be sued as a IT company in Bristol owns the Trademark PSP. HAHA Sony didnt you do your research.

Also they are scared as its cheaper to get them from japan and usa so profit is lost for Sony of the UK.

I dont care I got mine in China in march for £85 HAHA Sony come and take it back if you dare :p
